Hmm, yes... but then he hasn't had to worry about his team mate. I can't see Max being submissive like Bottas.

That is true though, maybe Hamilton would become the b*tch of that team then 馃榿

Don't see todays F1 practice being much help for quali tomorrow, or, the race on Sunday due to changeable weather, still a decent circuit although missing the forest section for the unexpected.

Poor Ferrari in quali today. A shame as would have been an even better fight for the top positions.

Will the rain today make things interesting, how will the first corner go? Must not start the race under safety car. Great to see the Ferrari鈥檚 heading out on the grid now.

Really entertaining race and good result for the sports future, what do Mercedes want Bottas to do? second in the championship, if he was leading would Lewis be under threat? Is someone else knocking on the door with a bigger cheque.

what do Mercedes want Bottas to do?
Mercedes wanted Bottas just to put at least one Mercedes on the podium, because it was the home race, the 125 years in Motorsport celebration, the Mercedes-Benz sponsored German GP... And that podium should be not so difficult for Bottas when you just have to overtake Stroll to reach it!

But racing at home means more pressure, and usually more mistakes. And when both Mercedes were leading the race, the big mistake arrived because they stopped for slick tyres (when it was not the time to do it!! :whipped:), just because Leclerc and Max did it! 馃お

Leclerc also payed this mistake, but even with a similar mistake in Red Bull (stopping for Medium slick tyres when it was raining 馃え), Max was lucky enough to avoid the crash during his 360掳 incident, and drove a great race to win! Congratulations to Max, Red Bull, and TAG Heuer! 馃槈 馃憤

Anyway, after their worst possible result, Hamilton and Mercedes are still leading both Championships by many points... I just hope they don鈥檛 do more big mistakes with the tyres again!

Very entertaining. Some skilled driving and some not so skillful driving. Nice to see Ferrari showing some good pace again.

Lewis had the flu. I think he wasn't 100% for this race and it showed.

Last news: Both Alfa Romeo have been penalized, so Lewis is 9th and two points more leader than before the German GP after all!

Updated standings after the Alfa penalties:

He may not have been 100% but it wasn鈥檛 the flu, grossly overused term.

Half the drivers span or crashed, but Lewis had the flu so it wasn't his fault... spare me. It's like Nigel Mansell all over again.

How do you know? Sounded like the flu, or a flu-like illness to me.
BBC News: Team boss Toto Wolff said: "There is a flu going around in the paddock and he was not feeling great."

And quotes from Lewis himself:
"These weekends are sent to try you but what I can say is health is everything," he said. "This weekend I could feel for all the people who are sickly in hospitals, who are going through difficult times. I felt even more for them this weekend just knowing how horrible it does feel being ill.

"Obviously my illness is minuscule compare to a lot of people's but it felt like the world was ending for me for a lot of time. So I have a lot of sympathy for them."

Lewis got caught out in the same two places as other drivers, but somehow finished the race. Difficult to know how the illness played into this, but I do know that it can affect your concentration and reactions. I once drove home when feeling ill (silly really, but I was young) and was almost involved in an accident after going through a red light that I hadn't even noticed.
