... IMHO, he's got very little to lose and everything to gain.
I think there's a ton to lose if he doesn't wow them. That said, I am rooting for him and hope he does well.

How so? I just don't see it.

Red Bull top brass obviously didn't want him, even though he outperformed both Daniel and Liam last year. He can't really do any worse than Liam did, and people are already pointing the finger at the car.

Yuki's career wasn't going anywhere with junior Racing Bulls team, he's been stuck there for 4+ years. Furthermore, Honda has his back. So even if he does lose his RB seat by underperforming, Honda will probably pay Aston Martin to eventually give Yuki a seat with them or at least be their backup driver.

On the upside, if he performs well, he has everything to gain.

Time will tell. I really hope Yuki does well, as he's a talented driver and as you said, he certainly has put in the time at the Jr RB team. On the other hand, if Yuki doesn't excel and eventually gets pushed-out of RB, then I can see him taking Alonso's seat, if he retires (again) in 2026.

George Russell's podium finish in China was the 300th for Mercedes-Benz since Juan Manuel Fangio's in 1954 😊

Shockingly boring race from Japan. Great for Max and Red Bull.

Solid victory for Max, RB and Honda. No points for Yuki. McLaren still ahead, but Max is determined to win his 5th title.

Red Bull coming into this year as an underdog but supremely brilliant result from MV! Told myself even before the Japanese Grand Prix that I’d like to get a diecast of this “White Bull” livery especially as it is a special tribute to Honda on their Home Race. Clinching Suzuka lap time record and P1 were icing on the cake 🙂

I’d like to see a TAG Heuer & Honda watch tribute someday as the two have been synonymous with season perfection in the days of Senna (1988) and MV (2023) 👍🏻

Love him or hate him or don't care (my case), I have to admit Max's pole and win takes a special kind of talent. Very impressive! Enjoy the win! 👍

I get the comparisons to Senna (Honda & TAG Heuer etc.), but for me their personalities and driving styles are completely different. And Max really hasn't had a teammate to challenge him like Prost. Thirty years from now, it'll be interesting to see if Max is remembered the same way as Senna. We'll see... (if I live that long, lol)...

That was a spectacularly dull race... how can a track that's so challenging produce such a snoozefest? I mean I can't remember a Suzuka race where no one 'had a moment' at the second Degna...

I’m not comparing Senna and Verstappen, I’m just saying their most dominant seasons are both with TAG Heuer & Honda. Both are 3-4x World Champions with these two brands with them, but truly they have different personalities and charisma. Both are heroes in their own nations and would have different legacies I guess.
