the new 42mm Carrera Elegant Chronograph series

Is "Carrera Elegant Chronograph" the official name for this line? I suppose that name differentiates it from the 44mm "Carrera Sport Chronograph" from July.

From what I've seen I like the anthracite dial most. But these are all definitely beautiful watches. Respect to Guy Bove and his team. Bravo! 👍

Wow here stuff is happening! I've been away for one day... 😲😁

Good some reading and photo browsing to catch up on. First impression is good! The only thing I dislike is the awful running seconds that is hidden but still there in a weird way...

The seconds hand and the size are issues in my mind. I think it will wear very big at 42 so would have prefered they used the 39mm case. On the seconds subdial - I think they should have used a normal subdial there or even better (delete the seconds hand).

Oh ok.. That makes sense.
Do you think 6.5k is achievable in Boutique?
Being such a new model?

I think $6.5k is very achievable. Maybe not on day one that they are available but once they have had them for a few months.

Yes, I believe it is. This is from the official release

We all know that if we make the Calibre Heuer 02 a 2-register, you will definitely missed out the second subdial at 6’o clock.

Love the classic layout with the 6pm date position.

Glad they have worked to get the thickness down.

Does the text HEUER 02 80 HOURS really need to be on the dial itself? At least it is hidden away.
I dislike too much text on the dial- but if they were going to put in anywhere, I think they've chosen the right spot on the dial. There must be a view that 80 hours power reserve is an important selling message. Most punters would be told that it's an inhouse movement and think "so what?". This actually gives a reason for valuing the movement.

We seem to be missing one. The email I saw from Tag announcing them a while ago showed 4 variations.
Indeed, I do cover the fourth in the post, but you are right that I didn't get to review this one

I'm not convinced by the 'Elegant' part of the name but whatever. They have never distinguished the sportier models from the less sporty (elegant) models in the past.

I agree. Having said that, I've always found it strange from a customer perspective the lack of distinct names given to watches. If you said that you had a "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16" that could mean one of about a dozen different watches, many of which look totally different.

I like having specific names, but I don't think I would have chosen "Elegance"- maybe "Heritage" or something similar.

I think the blue one is the pick of the lot.

I know what you mean but that is not much different to, say, the Navitimer variations.

The reality is that the differences were only in dial design, bezel and perhaps case material. They are all chronographs with a Calibre 16 inside.

Some people not happy unless it is a literal 1:1 copy of whatever came out in 196x, not talking about this forum but the comments on sites like Hodinkee etc.

Treading on dangerous ground calling these 'Heritage' I think David... 😒

They should get a Carrera Silver 160! 😁 But then again they wouldn’t want something if it’s not in the price they want 😵‍💫

I like the watch overall, but the mushroom pushers look out of place to me. The case and dial looks timeless and elegant, the pushers look antiquated and overly stylized. The crown looks a bit too chunky too...
