Well, that was a debacle and a half. Can't find any mention of the chaos in the second formation lap though... guess it was forgotten in the aftermath.

Key is to realise F1 is not a sport. We learnt clearly in 2021 that F1 is more like a circus, or the WWE wrasstling show where they do fake things to put up a good show. Watching F1 is no different from watching a movie in the cinema. Once you come to terms with this, you stop caring about all the nonsense they do to put on a good show. What annoys me more these days is people complaining about the sport being ruined. Well, if it was a sport I could see your point but complaining about F1 entertainment shows is like complaining who "wins" the WWE mega wrestling shakedown on Friday nights.

Well, I have to say, with the way things are these days, with everything locked down, no development, 1 engine and gearbox to last 35 races.... they've turned F1 into a predictable bore fest. So they gotta find a different way to spice it up otherwise we will stop watching.
I get that they need to be seen to be green, but as it is it's practically impossible to upend the form book, Red Bull win for several years, then Merc, then Ferrari (maybe)... it makes a mockery of it really because Hamilton's gone from being 'unbeatable' to being lucky if he can win a race, and I don't think his performance level has changed much. Similarly, I don't think Max would be doing anything in that Ferrari.

So apparently F1 circus starts this week again? Such a weird thing to start the season with a 4 weeks summer break.

And this weekend will be super weird as the "sport" (wink wink) continues to change its rules to make it more of a hollywood spectacle. Apparently there is

practice 1 on Friday

then Q1, Q2 and Q3 on Friday to set the grid for Sunday. These first qualis apparently set the pole position for the grand prix.

Then on Saturday there is Q1 nr 2, Q2 nr 2 and Q3 nr 2 to make a separate grid for the sprint race. In Q1 nr 2 and Q2 nr 2, teams are forced to use medium tyres. In Q3 nr 2 they are forced to use soft.

Then a sprint race on Saturday, aiming for maximum chaos and crashing to keep fans excited.

Then something about a normal race on the Sunday.

I wonder how many safety cars we'll see this weekend.
