No one care now that Sir Cockwomble or Mercedes aren’t at the front, been at the Knockhill circuit today for the McRae rally, 25 of Colin’s rally cars on display or in use. Good day, and more tomorrow.
Since the race is on free to air I’ll record it and watch later, dependent on hearing spoilers and time available between home from the rally and off to the pub.
I missed the race earlier but just watched the highlights. What a battle for the lead, at one point 5 cars all within a couple of seconds of each other. Great drive by Hamilton too, and amazing to see the Merc, Ferrari and Red Bull all racing so closely. Silverstone, with it's wide track and complex corners is just what F1 needs after those narrow street circuits where it's just a procession.
Catch fencing to barrier gap needs rethinking, won’t complain about safety fences ruining picture taking opportunities again though.
We watched it on Now, but didn't realise it was on 4. (We don't have full sky, just Now). We were hoping to find a catch-up, will try the 4 app.
Toto said without the SC Hamilton would have won the race, I think he might have been right. Ferrari really screwed LeClerc, I get that if you are leading (like Hamilton in AD last year) it's difficult to give up track position, but surely anyone could see that fresh softs were going to be the best option for the last 12 laps!
If Ferrari can get their act together strategy wise and also have better reliability, we might have a real fight for the title. If Sainz hadn't retired, it might have been a Ferrari 1-2 and Max's WDC lead would have shrunk further. But it's a big "if", given how Ferrari's been their own worst enemy.
I like Checo but he is a dumbass. Why would he make that move on that corner on the first lap. Absolutely idiotic.
I felt the 5s penalty for Russell was really unfair. He left sufficient room in my opinion. As did Perez, but it was basically just a coming together that they both could have avoided had they wanted to.
