After Sunday's race, Lewis looked like he was severely injured.

Is Russel's youth and condition, so much better than Lewis' that he's not affected by the porpoising?

Yes, Merc and also the FIA need to do something. It’s not just a Mercedes problem, because Ferrari and other cars are also suffering -in different degrees- this issue… Magnussen also ended the race with pain. The top category in motorsports should not have cars bouncing that way, and inflicting pain on their drivers. If it's the ultimate technology category, and there's technology to fix that (like active suspension), it should be allowed. The show they are giving with those rebounds is quite ridiculous, but main reason would be safety and health.

Anyway it seems Hamilton is better one day later, and that he will race in Canada 👍

But I dont understand, like Martin and Rob points to most sources keep writing that the bouncing is avoided by increasing the car's height. But doing so slows the car down so Mercedes chooses to bounce and be quick, instead of choosing to not bounce. McLaren, RB, Torro Rosso and others have found ways to not bounce so I doubt that Mercedes are not able to do so, my guess is they choose to sacrifise the comfort of their drivers to gain maximum speed?

It’s not just a Mercedes issue:

Don’t agree. Max had two DNFs this season already.

Good point! I forgot that already... Sergio had one too and he lost out to the safety car badly in one.

Or you could look at it like the cars behind Merc could go faster if they were willing to reduce their ride height, maybe? But probably not because F1 drivers will never willingly choose comfort over speed. I do feel sorry for the drivers, but at the same time, F1 teams have a very long history of complaining about things when they don't suit them. We all know damn well that if it was Red Bull that had the problem and Merc was fine Toto would be saying 'Red Bull' need to sort out the problem. It's just the way F1 is played. The FIA could raise the minimum ride height of the cars I guess, but if this massively helps Merc to the point where it affects the outcome of the championship, is that right? I think RB and Ferrari would feel massively aggrieved and Ferrari would probably start talking about leaving F1 again.

That said, Hamilton's onboard was pretty hard to watch. But I don't really understand why it is so much worse for him than anyone else?

Perhaps maybe Mercedes under floor aero is so effective that it worsens the problem, lift the car, soften the suspension, reduce tyre pressure half a psi, reduce downforce front and rear or modify the floor, seems the teams thought that the new regs would be easier to build a competitive car to? Looks like some were better than other at this and those that weren’t aren’t willing to compromise on set up/design, this is not an area of my expertise so I can only suggest what seems simple/logical to me, obviously the solution is more complex or it would have been resolved?
Bet the wind tunnel results on the designs were fantastic there was much backslapping, and then, they hit the track at race speeds and oops, WTF,

It is very good that FIA has banned bouncing to protect the drivers, this way applicable teams cant keep putting their drivers in danger to gain speed 👍

Goddamn qualifying is being shown in the UK on Sunday morning! And the race starts at 11pm. Fantastic.

Wonder how this new rule will affect Ferrari? Is this gonna hand the WDC to Max (or Checo)?

At least the quali will be on fta! and the race time means I’ll be home from the pub, didn’t the teams agree to the new regs for this year, some just can’t make them work they way they should, why penalise those who’s cars aren’t too badly affected? Can we get a comment from Toto?

-5 hours time difference?

Anyone else notice that Dr Red Bull Marko was wearing the H01 Red Bull piece today 😎

I saw that shot live on TV, I thought it was the RB F1. Nice catch!

Awesome race, nice battles, lots of events.
First pit under vsc was key. Lucky late sc for ferrari wasn’t enough despite fresher rubber. Sainz def faster there but exit speed saved Max from real heat on the straights 👍
