Let's see what the Stewards have to say.
I don't think that will change the minds of people on either side

Helicopter feed clearly shows Lewis had lots of time to pass. Max was on the right, not in the middle.

Next 2 frames show Max in the middle.
So just as well Lewis didn't try.

That was seconds later, after Lewis was stalling

I watched the whole race and there were so many incidents that I’m confused. Why did Max get the 5 sec penalty?
It wasn’t the first incident because Masi offered RB a P3 restart which they accepted.
After the second incident RB asked Max to give the position back. Which he attempted but Lewis didn’t take and then Lewis crashed into him. Was he supposed to keep braking after that so Lewis could pass??
Max actually let Lewis pass later on.
Or was there another incident? I can’t recall.

Very messy race all round.
Red flags
VSC
Restarts
So many talking points.
Need to watch it again to try and make any sense of it.
I wonder what happens next week?
Will they come together again?
Does Max and Lewis both go off leaving Max the Champion?
It's going to be a long week of waiting that's for sure

What a crazy race! Despite the fact that the first red flag favored Max (otherwise the 1-2 for Mercedes seemed quite clear), an excellent start by Hamilton in the second start motivated different desperate and unsportsmanlike maneuvers by Max, who ended up using Medium tyres on the third start to regain the lead, but at the end of the race they finished worse than Hamilton's Hard tyres.

Max was playing too dirty, so much so that even his engineer scolded him on the radio… I hope Max is not going to collide with Hamilton in Abu Dhabi as Schumacher did with Hill in Australia 1994 to win the Title. This incredible season does not deserve to end like this.

In constructors, Mercedes increases its advantage thanks to the podium of Bottas and Checo’s DNF, but both titles are decided in the last race 🍿

So Max gets a 10 sec penalty for being ‘predominantly at fault’ for Lewis crashing into him. Lewis, who in the post race interview declared with a straight face he didn’t understand what was happening, actually knew really well. He didn’t want to pass before the drs line because he would have been challenged by Max on the straight after. Max ultimately braked and now receives a penalty for that. Another hilarious decision.
So what should Max have done? Lewis didn’t pass so does that mean Max can race away again? Had he done thst I’m sure there would have been a penalty for not giving the position back. Any which way but lose.

So Max braked 2.4g on a straight line with Hamilton behind him, causing a collision, and he just receives a 10s penalty that doesn’t change his 2nd position… this is a bad joke 🤬

"In deciding to penalise the driver of Car 33, the key point for the Stewards was that the driver of car 33 then braked suddenly (69 bar) and significantly, resulting in 2.4g deceleration.

Whilst accepting that the driver of Car 44 could have overtaken Car 33 when that car first slowed, we understand why he (and the driver of Car 33) did not wish to be the first to cross the DRS [line]. However, the sudden braking by the driver of Car 33 was determined by the Stewards to be erratic and hence the predominant cause of the collision and hence the standard penalty of 10 seconds for this type of incident, is imposed."

Pretty clear from the Stewards decision that Max was in the wrong.

Max can't be controlled by Horner and so these silly situations come about.
Max is very impatient and I fear that will be his downfall for his career. I hope he learns.
He can become the best driver on the grid if he sorts out this problem

Downfall? He’s the most exciting driver in many years, that’s why the fans love him. This season has been his best so far. This sort of stuff used to happen all the time. We’ve been rocked to sleep by the most boring decade in F1 history. Finally some thrills. So Max is a bad boy, so what? Were you rooting for Maverick or Iceman?

Super exciting next week! 👍 Unfortunate for Red Bull where Checo suffered a DNF. I’m really hoping Red Bull will bring their A-Game and give everything they got next week ::rimshot::

28 point gap in the constructors championship 😉

He is very exciting I agree and Quick.
But still very immature. Hence he has these kind of problems from time to time.
I love watching Lewis and Max fight it out.
A truly Exciting season it's been.
Now all we need is next year to have more than 2 challengers for the title.

Jos has a temper which Max inherited but I think Max manages it a lot better at his young age. The kid is 24... His temper is a crucial part of his winning mentality, I agree he needs to cultivate it further but he's well on his way.
In this inteview however Jos simply calls it how he sees it, something we're used to from Max as well. It can appear blunt but at least its honest, typical for Dutch culture. Not much room for political correctness or BS. Some people might be shocked by such forwardness but 90% of the grid will agree to what he said, chuckle but keep their mouths shut.
Have you seen Lewis' post race interview. You could see he was lying, saying one thing and thinking something else, like so often. It later turned out this was true. 'I didn't understand what was going on' 😁
His narrative about the raw speed of the RB and Merc had to fight them 'with what they had' while Merc was the fastest on track throughout the race. You just never know when he's truthful.
I have no problem with forgetting about characters and letting them fight it out on track but it's Lewis himself highlighting his achievements, experience, maturity, political engagement. At the same time he's driving around with Kingspan on his nose and accepting the trophy out of the hands of a Saudi prince.

He seems desperate to paint himself as the underdog despite the fact that the Merc is now clearly faster than the RB.

Special mention must go to the moron who designed the Jeddah track, and particularly the first corner... was it actually designed to create chaos? It looked to me like all the drivers further back decided to take it easy at the start because they all realised that this track was just waiting to bite them. Loved the restart when Max overtook Ocon and Hamilton, that was hilarious.

If the race wasn't red flagged what would have happened about Bottas backing Max up so that Merc could double stack? I remember that happening years ago and there was a penalty for it.
