Hi all, sorry if i make new thread if it already been made before.

Just want some opinions about what do most calibre11 forum members think about incident happened between Max and Hamilton at Saudi Arabia GP today.

Let's be clear although the reason why i asked in the first place is because i got into silly argument with my friend about it 😁 but please, i do not want to create division in here. I simply want to get more opinions

For the sake of this arguments i wont stated first who side am i on or whether there is side i take at all.

Please don't quote other members opinions just for the sake to debate them. Let them have chance to stated their opinion without causing debate or potential debate 😁

Thanks in advance. And i dont want to say lets get ready for rumbleeeeee because that is not the point here. So please educate me. 😀

Yeah, probably best to merge with the F1 discussions thread. My simple take:

- It was a crazy race. I wouldn't apportion too much "blame" for what happened to either driver. Both made a mistake
- Max's penalties were quite lenient though, plus he was given opportunities to avoid them
- Lewis fully deserved the win
- It sets up a great title decider

So, do I root for a self-involved grandiose hypocrite who lucked into getting the best car of the grid for the last several insufferably boring years, or for a enthusiastic racer that gets the most out of his car and leaves it all on every track?

I hope Max wins at any cost next weekend.

F1 needs to get rid of this DRS nonsense. It's yet another thing that causes issues... but Max was a bit silly thinking they were gonna let him get away with letting LH past and than sweeping back underneath. I thought there was some 'informal' guidance that you should not attack again until at least one corner had been taken.

As an old bastard who remembers qualifying engines... it irks me that a driver who crashes giving everything in qualifying should then be open to a penalty for having to replace a gearbox. Seems like the WDC is more than ever dependent on reliability and saving parts and engines.

Maybe this thread can at least be put in the garage @Hubert (if not merged with the existing F1 thread)
Yes, let's merge with the F1 discussions thread.

He seems desperate to paint himself as the underdog despite the fact that the Merc is now clearly faster than the RB.

Special mention must go to the moron who designed the Jeddah track, and particularly the first corner... was it actually designed to create chaos? It looked to me like all the drivers further back decided to take it easy at the start because they all realised that this track was just waiting to bite them. Loved the restart when Max overtook Ocon and Hamilton, that was hilarious.

They wanted to make the race exciting, so they wanted to make chaos 🤦

Is this WWF 🤨 (“Are you not entertained?”)

Well, thanks for the merging.

But i thought this will be separate thread to discuss JUST this incident 😁

Anyway, i admit i havent opened the garage before. Achievement unlock 😀

You know this is the internet right, you can't make rules for the internet.

Well it sounds (now) like maybe Max got a little hot headed because Lewis wouldn't overtake where he wanted him to and tried to slow down (a bit too sharply). I doubt very much he intended to make Lewis hit him because a front wing is easily replaced a rear wing is not. Most likely Max was surprised how quickly an F1 car brakes when it is not going that fast (how often would these guys actually brake at low speeds?) and probably felt a bit silly and tried to brush over it. But like I said, he and RB should have known that you can't 'give a place back' and then take it back immediately.

Maybe we've forgotten what hard racing looks like or maybe a lot of commentators weren't watching F1 before 2010. People are making a very big fuss out of this as if Mad Max is driving everyone else off track. Yes when he started out in F1 at 17 he was a young gun and foolishly enthusiastic on many occasions. He has moved on and this season he's been very composed and focused with very few mistakes whereas Merc and Lewis were piling them up. Not even considering that he was driven off by both Lewis and Valtteri this season, one tyre puncture probably sealed his fate this season.

In most races there's a lot more going on in the back than between Lewis and Max. Probably 5 events between other drivers this weekend would have caused murderous comments should they have happened between Lewis and Max. It just gets blown way out of proportion.
Even Toto admitted that Max's turn 1 move may or may not have crossed the line of what is hard racing. In a split second no driver can fully make that assessment, they just go for it. The same temper that has Max crossing the line in turn 1 causes his brilliant pass from P3 at restart. You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.

It was a dumbass move to break, out of frustration because Lewis deliberately wasn't passing. People now claiming Max wanted Lewis to crash into him should really look at the footage again. I see gnarlier stuff on the highway every week. Max was obviously breaking so Lewis would pass him before the DRS line. Having your WC rival crash into your engine and gearbox with a replaceable wing really sounds like a great idea.
This opens a new debate about deliberately or mandatory letting drivers pass. Max got a 5 sec penalty eventhough he tried to let Lewis pass. Can they choose where they pass? Do they need to pass when given the chance or do they forfeit the opportunity when they don't? If the latter is a rule, another damn rule, then Max can speed up again and take his chances on the straight. Speeding away unexpectedly can result in enough advantage that you're in the clear anyway, similar to a situation after a safety car. Pandora's box

What concerns me is that now with the media frenzy over all this and the history of Schumacher/Hill and Schumacher/Villeneuve etc... what if something like what happened at Silverstone happens in the last race? Will the FIA feel compelled to act? But then you shouldn't treat that one race differently to the others... the championship is 23 races not 1. Well I guess Silverstone is a bad example because it wasn't necessarily 'deliberate'.

On the subject of the 5 second penalty it is ridiculous. Is the thinking that if you can get 5 secs in front then you would have passed anyway? I don't get that. It just means if you are in a dominant car or are racing out of position then you can do what you want because you can negate the penalty. I don't know the answer - oh, well yes I do - gravel. But the 5 second penalty is looking pretty redundant at this juncture.

Seems I made the wise choice by going to the pub and ignoring the GP, seems Lewis made the rookie mistake by driving too close to the car in front and not being able to react when Max braked but hey never gonna get F1 fans to consider their driver may be wrong,
Now Kimi’s leaving I really don’t care where F1 goes, shit tracks, too much fiddling trying to create closer racing -eg drs-penalties for engines, I gonna stick to the rugby and BTCC n Aussie V8s, maybe some NASCAR too.

Better to keep all F1 discussions regarding the 2021 season in one place. Otherwise they get lost. Good way to keep all organized.

Anyone know what watch the safery car side kick passenger guy is wearing? I almost get modular Carrera vibes, with that strap and case? Or maybe Hublot, anyone have some info?

Very difficult to tell from that pic, could be many different watches. It might help if someone knows who this person is.

The F1 Safety Car driver, Bernd Maylander, has been seen wearing many different watches. Including this watch that looks kind of similar. But since the watch in question is being worn by the passenger, who knows?

Found this about the second driver, could be a another person now as this article was from 2018 (Richard Darker):
