路I can understand that Red Bull could improve their car, but why are Merc struggling so much all of a sudden, after seven years of crushing it. It seems kinda odd to me. I could understand if it happened next year with the rule changes, but to see them fighting McLaren all of a sudden, what the hell is going on? Have the FIA found something on the car and told them to take it off, but kept it quiet like they did with Ferrari?

路The new rulebook is probably the deciding factor with many teams in full development of next year's car. You can bet your sweet cheeks Mercedes will have a championship winning car. Verstappen has been pushing RB and Honda for years for a better performing car and RB are under a lot of pressure if they want to keep him on board. Maybe they saw their chance to push hard and get a WC under their belt with other teams focussed on 2022. Perhaps Toto was a bit complacent and underestimated Verstappen's and RB's hunger to win a WC. Verstappen himself has never been this focussed and professional. On top of that the continuing aerodynamic gains of the high-rake RB as opposed to the low-rake Merc are generating an increasing advantage to RB. Silverstone will be interesting but a 34 points difference is already a lot although the season is still long.

路It's funny you know, I'm old enough to remember Ferrari going twenty years without winning a championship and then totally dominating, and now we're up to 14 years with no titles again... and would you put money on Ferrari winning a title anytime soon?
