It’s just poor driver overtake decision by Russell. That simple. I don’t blame Bottas for defending his position. That’s the playbook in sports. New driver kids feel entitled. They need to learn they’re competing in the pinnacle of the game so they shouldn’t expect others to make it easy for them. Neither were handed down a penalty. So it clearly meant, it’s a racing incident. In the end, if Russell overtook cleanly then this wouldn’t be an issue.

Bottas squeezed Russell. Even though he left just enough space, Russell wasn't to know he wouldn't continue to move over to that side of the circuit, and Bottas effectively created the situation where Russell felt like he had to react in that split second. So, whilst technically what Bottas did was OK, I think he has to accept some blame for causing the incident.

Yup, Bottas did was OK. So it’s not really his fault. When you try to overtake and you didn’t make it, you only have yourself to blame. Russell needs to man up!

Ok he got in because of his dad's money and influence but he's a pretty good driver
Do you think F1 is a place suitable for "pretty good" drivers? Anyone else and he would've been kicked out a long time ago.

Agree completely with this.

Those blaming Bottas, do you think he should've thought "oh I better give Russell a lot more space when overtaking me cause it might be too wet where he is driving and I want to make sure I give him dry trackspace for a safe overtake" ?

Besides, who cares. I have from good sources that it was team order for them both to crash so Lewis could get p2.

Haha this is a good one 😲😲 But Lewis drive to P2 was supreme! He really loves nailing it down! His merc surely shows it still isn’t the BEST racecar for 7 years for nothing. 😉😉

I'd probably agree with this opinion on both the "Russell" incidents:

Any reason why Bottas was so woefully poor in Italy? Was his floor damaged? Did he have a cold? Did his dog die? In all the chaos it almost seems to have been overlooked that he went from fastest on Friday to 8th on the grid to well, nowhere....

It was quite something. 9/10 drivers retire after that. Is the merc specially equipped or is Ham that good?

Russell manning up! 👍
‘Hi Russell, come in and have a seat. Here’s a text Toto prepared for you. Please sign it so we can leave this thing behind us. You’ll be a merc driver next year so better get used to this sort of thing.’

My wife reckons Toto looks like the kind of guy who's hand you would shake and then count your fingers, not totally trustworthy.

He is a bit "Terminator' in his style and he comes across as a bit of a d1ck in Drive to Survive.

It is interesting to note that he is a part owner of the Mercedes team so he is heavily invested in the best outcomes come what may.
