I can only ask, has Lewis been down to the crossroads and done a deal with the devil? Off track and and last? only for a red flag to come out due to an accident that removed fast runners which allowed him to catch the field and eventually finish second, even when fate conspires against him luck turns up to help him along.
A bit lucky perhaps, but the track was very slippery on slicks at that point, so not surprising other cars span. Unless Bottas crashed under team orders to help Lewis 😀

Still, he drove very well apart from the off, passed a lot of cars, and even got fastest lap to retain his championship lead.

Too bad about the rain today. I want a fair fight in normal conditions.

Anyone know if Bottas had issues with the car? What the hell was he and his Merc doing cruising in what p8-10 👎

Best laugh of the day was Stroll's attempt to overtake! Too bad he ended up scoring points.

The Championship is like this at the moment 😁 with Hamilton still leading the standings by 1 point after Imola!🍿

What an entertaining race! 👍
Congrats to Max for the victory, to Lewis for the comeback, and to Lando for a great race and podium!

Max won the race mainly at the start, and also by a slow (4s) Mercedes Pit Stop with Hamilton, which prevented Max from losing position at the first stop...

What would have happened if Hamilton did not go off the track when lapping Russell? Who knows... at certain moments in the race, Hamilton was faster than Max, even missing part of the front wing! 😵‍💫 The Mercedes (or rather, Hamilton with the Mercedes... because Bottas was not up to the task 🤦, and neither was Checo) had a good race pace.

Still, Max came close to losing a sure victory when he lost the car behind the Safety Car... so really, the only one on the podium who made no mistakes was Lando! 👍

Hamilton and Mercedes are still leading the standings after the Imola GP... something difficult to imagine on lap 31 when Hamilton was stuck off the track with a broken front wing, and Bottas out of the race after his accident with Russell! 😲

Wonder how far Hamilton would have got if he hadn't been gifted a closed up field by the big crash? Probably still second I'm guessing, that Merc was insanely fast whenever he came up behind anyone. Can't quite understand why it was a roling start though, I thought we were supposed to get a grid start after a red flag?

Also, I wonder how the stewards would have viewed it if it was say 'Mazepin' who reversed across the gravel trap and back onto the circuit?

The Swedish commentators kept saying his name is Mazespin

It’s easier to say it that way 😲😲😲

Yes and it suits his driving style perfectly. In the beginning I kept saying that Mazespin was "doing a Vettel" but at this pace I think Mazespin is the new champion in this area

Stroll and Kimi were penalized, so these are the official race results
Doesn't really help, Stroll still in the points unfortunately. Lets hope for DNF next time.

Not second, he lost too much time in the gravel, top 10 at best.
Interesting incident between Bottas and Russell. Bottas defending position and veering right while it looks like leaving enough space for Russell to pass. I assume Russell believed Bottas was coming further to the right so he went over the wet white line at full throttle, causing his spin. Russell was certainly faster, the pass was inevitable. You could ask why Bottas needed to veer to the right in the first place, making it more dangerous to pass, certainly in wet conditions. The maneuvre might not have been sudden, breaking the code, but it was sneaky and totally pointless.

Vettel is plague with problems first and second race. I can’t accept that Stroll has outshine a 4-time world champion 😲😲😲😲

I’m siding on Bottas on this one. Russell was obviously faster but he could’ve picked a better area to overtake. On both driver’s camera you could see Russell squeezed himself in that narrow straight. Don’t expect Bottas looking at his side mirrors just for you to pass. 😵‍💫

Ok he got in because of his dad's money and influence but he's a pretty good driver. I'm impressed by his first two races.
Maybe the AM is actually a super good car and would end P1 with Lewis or Max driving it 😎
And maybe daddy hired an ex WC and gave him a lesser car to make his son shine 😀

I don' agree. On these photos you can see Bottas moved from the left side to the right.
In the first photo Bottas is right next to the white line and Russell is coming in fort the pass. The second photo is just when Russell starts to spin. Plenty of space on the track but Bottas was squeezing, albeit slightly. A combo of wet conditions, oldtimer sneakiness and a spooked rooky.
