Great fightback from Max against Bottas, I'm not sure how Stroll got away with driving Ricciardo off the circuit though...

Racing Point’s Perez started from P17 then battling out up to the penultimate lap at P4 with Red Bull’s Albon was already a shocker! 😲

But Stroll’s wheel to wheel with Ricciardo’s Renault was the tipping point of bizarre and shocking bordering scandalous on how Racing Point’s team managed to do all this in such a short time? 😲🙄😒😵‍💫

Hamilton will go down in history as one of the best F1 drivers. But this F1 age will be easily forgotten. A race in which a polesitter drives all the way upront to victory is not my idea of an exciting race. And it’s been this way for many years. Anyone who praises Hamilton alone for this achievement is delusional. He’s always been the best in the Mercedes team, no argue there.

There was no fight between Bottas and Verstappen. The only exciting move was Verstappen’s rebound. Very humourous of the Dutchman. Bottas only needed to press the gas on the straights, no class required. The pace difference between Mercedes and the rest is shocking.
One of the many many issues with this sport is that we can never compare all drivers against each other like in indycar or nascar. Imagine an Olympics 100m final where two runners have the latest gear and spikes and the rest has sneakers or no shoes at all. Imagine doing a victory lap after such a spectacle.

Well.... 'Pink Mercedes'. 😒

You know, it's funny how teams say they can't 'afford' Vettel. His stock is so low, even as a 4XWDC, he would probably take £5m for a competitive car. I don't see him at Merc for any money though. Despite everything Hamilton still seems to have the upper hand there as it would be seen as a huge betrayal for Merc to dump him over money and I can't see Hamilton and Vettel in the same team. In fact I could have seen Alonso and Hamilton at the same team before Hamilton and Vettel.

I hear you, but... rose tinted glasses.

The first race Fangio won (the Monaco GP) he outqualified the second place guy (Farina) by 2.6 seconds, and lapped everybody. That must have been hugely exciting.

The first race Graham Hill won (Dutch GP) he won by 27 seconds.

The first race Niki Lauda won, he beat Regazzoni by 37 seconds and they were the only cars on the same lap.

The first race Nelson Piquet won he beat Patrese by 49 seconds and only three cars finished on the same lap.

Michael Schumacher's first win (Spa 1992) he won by 36 seconds, although there were 7 cars on the lead lap.

Kimi's first victory (Malaysia 2003) was won by 39 seconds, with 4 cars on the lead lap

Max Verstappen's first win was in Spain in 2016, where he beat Kimi by 6 seconds, 8 cars were on the lead lap.

These examples have been chosen at random.... it doesn't prove anything of course, but we do glamorise the great races of the past and forget the boring ones.

Mike Hawthorn F1 Champion 1958, had a total of 3 grand prix wins, 45 race starts, and only 1 win out of 10 races during the 1958 Season where he was F1 Champion 👍

Phil Hill F1 Champion 1961, had a total of 3 grand prix wins, 49 race starts, and 2 wins out of 8 races during the 1961 Season where he was F1 Champion 👍

Shhhh. Don't tell people that. I thought you were a statistical genius! I was going to ask you which lap Ayrton Senna made his first pitstop in the 1987 French GP, but now I know you're just going to Google it, there's no point.... 😉

The channel 4 coverage/presenters are shocking, muted the sound at one point, I even nodded off a couple of times during the ‘race’, one or two moments of interest but reaching the end of the tether, once my local circuit is open for spectating again I-know where I’ll be for my motorsport fix.

I actually thought the race was okay, I think people have short memories - was much worse a couple of years ago. I didn't even watch the 2018 French GP... the only race I haven't watched since 1994
