I think it’s qualifying session 😁 LOL As a home race and the last winner of the Nurburgring track GP, it’s nice to see Vettel on this poster 👍 Again, I’m not expecting anything great from Scuderia Ferrari, I’m expecting Mercedes-AMG to win again 🙄, but I’m hoping for an exciting race to watch and have a great time 😉

First race ever at the Nürburgring, 1927, was won by Mercedes-Benz with Rudolf Caracciola at the wheel...

Also the legend of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows (because German cars were previously painted in white) was born in the Nürburgring, 1934...

So this is probably the most historic and legendary race track for Mercedes-Benz, not only its home race. And this year, with such a cold (and probably wet) weather forecast... I think Lewis Hamilton and his black Silver Arrow are more favorites than ever, because they warm up the tires better than anyone 😉

When I was reading the history of motorsports, each country has a designated race car livery color with matching color of the race number. It was more of national pride for both drivers and manufacturers to use these colors back then. Britain/UK has the British Green (Aston Martin, Lotus, Bentley etc) Italy uses Rosso Corsa (Ferrari, Alfa Romeo etc), France is Blue (Bugatti, Alpine etc ) etc Germany or more specifically Mercedes Benz & Auto Union went with silver because adding paint in the car will actually make the car heavier 😉 So for some weight saving measures, they stripped the racecar of paint and thus the silver bare metal/aluminum color was born and began the Legend of the Silver Arrows 😉

I think Belgium had yellow for their national colour, don’t know where in my head that idea came from, must investigate.

It gets close, but not quite 😉

The color of Germany was white, but at the 1934 Nürburgring Grand Prix, the white Mercedes-Benz W 25 weighed 2 kg more than required by the regulations during the technical scrutineering. Team manager Alfred Neubauer (the Toto Wolff of the 30s and 50s), ordered the bodyworks to be sanded during the night to remove the 2 kg of white paint they had on.

The W 25 in visible aluminum totally dominated that race, and the press began to call them “Silver Arrows”. From that race, Mercedes-Benz decided to adopt silver for its racing cars, and later, Auto Union simply copied them

I love these kind of stories 🥰 Thank you sir @Albert-AMG for sharing your great enthusiasm for anything motorsports 👍

Precisely why I also love Heuer and TAG Heuer 😉

Nice to see Bottas in pole! Here is my prediction for tomorrow:

Bottas gets a bad start, cracking under pressure. Hamilton takes the lead, Max in second and LeClerc stealing third. Bottas gets away in fourth position after curve one.

😁 Poor Bottas!

I think Hamilton is going to win the race anyway tomorrow, because he is clearly the best warming the tyres in such a cold weather, and mostly when they switch from soft to medium tyres, but it will not be so easy starting from the 2nd position, so we could see a nice race if Bottas keeps the lead after first corners 😉

Pre Race Charge by Nico (Racing EVs in F1)

The sound is weird 😵‍💫 Yup I’d agree with soul-less and not sure if it is fun to drive 🙄

Half distance, 1>2 6sec, 2>3 60sec +. Yawn. Glad I’m watching other racing on telly and just checked the progress on the website during an ad break.

At least Bottas managed to do a good start this time, took him at lesst a couple laps to break under pressure forget how to break before a turn 😁

Today was a good race and fun to see Renault and Ricciardo on the podium!

For once Bottas actually grew a pair and didn't just roll over, so Toto had to hit the 'failsafe' switch...
