Again the safety car nonsense, again it didn't work. In one close-up you could see Ham checking his instagram on the straight.

At least it showed me why I can never make the first corner in 'Real Racing', it's practically a hairpin and I was treating it like a 90deg bend!

It gets close, but not quite 😉

The color of Germany was white, but at the 1934 Nürburgring Grand Prix, the white Mercedes-Benz W 25 weighed 2 kg more than required by the regulations during the technical scrutineering. Team manager Alfred Neubauer (the Toto Wolff of the 30s and 50s), ordered the bodyworks to be sanded during the night to remove the 2 kg of white paint they had on.

The W 25 in visible aluminum totally dominated that race, and the press began to call them “Silver Arrows”. From that race, Mercedes-Benz decided to adopt silver for its racing cars, and later, Auto Union simply copied them

In the later sixties Porsche discovered the traditional „German white“ for participating in endurance races. The colour disappeared when Porsche handed over their endurance activities to John Wyer. He preferred the Gulf livery which he had tested successfully with the Ford GT 40 at Le Mans 1969. Apparently he could not wait for Red Bull to give wings to his cars, but the Gulf wings ($$$s) were not bad either. In the end, the success of John Wyer Automotive (as well as Steve McQueens „Le Mans“) opened the door for TAGHeuer to promote their Gulf watches and dials.
I appreciate very much that Aston Martin will
- have a green Formula 1 car and
- will offer a real racing car to Sebastian Vettel.
Let‘s see what happens!

I think Belgium had yellow for their national colour, don’t know where in my head that idea came from, must investigate.

In the early days of slot racing Vic Smeed published his book „Simple Electric Car Racing“. In 1966 I received the German translation of this book which contains a list of official racing colours. For Belgium you will find yellow...

Thanks for the conformation, there seems to be a hell of a lot of unrelated data wandering around in my head, pity I don’t remember the important things-like where did I put the car keys-still some memory is better than none.

Double world champion Fernando Alonso said he was ready for a fresh start as he tested the latest Renault Formula One car in Barcelona on Tuesday.

The Spaniard, a two-times Le Mans 24 Hours winner, has not competed in a grand prix since he left McLaren at the end of 2018 but is returning next year as replacement for departing Australian Daniel Ricciardo.

"It’s going to be like a new beginning, getting surprised about the speed of the car, the braking performance, the corner speed, a lot of things that will surprise me once again," the 39-year-old said before the filming day.

The test in the RS20 car came 20 years after Alonso first tested with Benetton — the team that then became Renault — at the same circuit.

Alonso said preparing for the limited mileage outing had been complicated by COVID-19 restrictions, with fewer days in the simulator to adjust, but the run was worth it.

"The feeling was good. I think the car is obviously outperforming me at the moment, because I cannot extract the maximum from the car," he said after completing the maximum 100km allowed.

"Getting back to the F1 speed is not so easy. I was improving lap after lap, and trying to give feedback to the engineers. Also we had some filming to do, so there were cameras, there were drones following on track."

Team boss Cyril Abiteboul said after Sunday's Eifel Grand Prix at Germany's Nürburgring, where Ricciardo finished third for Renault's first podium since their return as a constructor in 2016, that Alonso was champing to return.

"We received a message before, during and after the race," said the Frenchman.

"I think Fernando is like a big shark. And as soon as he starts to feel the blood he wants to attack. That's what I see - I see a shark very hungry."

The Spaniard, who won his titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006, has competed in the Dakar Rally and Indianapolis 500 since he was last in Formula One.

Nice car, I’ll go with Kimi next time, the only question would be, “can we go faster?”

Today, 13 years ago (2007), Scuderia Ferrari achieved it’s last Formula 1 Driver’s Championship (Kimi Raikkonen)
Also the last year of then Ferrari Team Principal Jean Todt, who eventually became FIA President in 2009 - present.

Whoever thought, in the Schumi era, that Ferrari would ever struggle like that again... 21 years from 1979 til 2000, will that record be broken?
