Can't be a proper driver until you've had an Alfa. ๐Ÿ˜‰

That's what my mate thought until he owned one. Very nice and all that, but when a part broke in the gearbox he was told it would take six weeks to get one, so he had to have a whole new gearbox. Ridiculous.

During the race Webber (IIRC) commented that Merc were probably not driving flat out and only doing what was necessary... if that's true then I wonder which lap their tyres would have delaminated on if they had been going flat out?

But again at the post race interview, he was calm and know to what extent the tire can do. Wow! Talk about โ€œtire managementโ€ Itโ€™s truly a gift of champions! I

Tell it to Steve Jones. He has a permanent imprint of Lewis's backside on his face.

He was lucky that it worked long enough to break!

Spent the day watching the BTCC, 3 races, 3 different winners, and some real door handle racing, Minis to Porsche support races, and more next week. Just need to allow spectators by the end of the month so I can attend at my local circuit.

Still is F1โ€™s most popular racecar driver ๐Ÿ˜
Watched him racing single seaters in the UK in 2000?, clinical driver, post race interviews could be interesting! He will be missed.

Knockhill in Fife, from our house we can see the actual โ€˜Knock hillโ€™ and hear traffic on the circuit, unfortunately only track days and testing going on with no spectator entry. Really annoying when you can hear them and not get in to see the action, wife is not quite keen enough for action to do a trackday, yet.

Ah nice. I've been to Donnington, Silverstone, Snetterton and Cadwell Park, although not recently being a resident of HMP Australia.

Done Brands, Donington, Croft, Oulton for cars and Cadwell for a bike meeting, Thruxton and Snetterton are on the list but not this year, Spa in Belgium with the car club was also planned next month but Covid did for that.

Lewis is training hard for the 2nd race in Silverstone, where the chosen tires will be even softer... ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

But does that make a difference though? Yes softer compound on the area touching the ground (sorry dont know what its called in Eng) but my understanding is that it was the construction of the tire in combination with too low pressure that made them break. The construction between side and top of the tire will be same no matter the compound and Pirelli will require higher tire pressure. So not sure it will affect the race.

Anyone who is an expert in tires, please correct me if Im wrong
