i really don't see what the fuss is all about with smart watches, you already have a smart phone, i don't get why people want to charge a watch every night.

Yes, but arguably I have to either wear or wind my mechanical watches every day or two, and I don't generally sleep in my watch, so it's not a huge step. My bigger concern is battery life with use, I already charge my phones during the day if I'm working mobile, I do not want to do that with my watch to.

I think it is the best looking smart watch by far, however the functionality is a bit lacking. If it had the functions of the Garmin Fenix 3 I would order it in a second.

I agree...this was going to be my other concern....paying more than $500 or so for something that will be outdated technology in 12-18 months is hard.

I thought I'd read it was titanium. Maybe something changed pre-production.

TAG Heuer can't keep up with demand for its Connected Android Wear smartwatch, will increase production

Announced and launched in November as "the first luxury watch powered by Android Wear" (these are Google's words), the TAG Heuer Connected is also one of the most expensive smartwatches out there, as it costs $1,500. But the device's high price doesn't seem to be stopping customers from buying it.

According to Bloomberg, retailers and subsidiaries around the world have requested about 100,000 TAG Heuer Connected units. This has prompted TAG Heuer to increase production from 1,200 to 2,000 units per week. At the moment, the company can't keep up with demand, so it's suspending online sales until next year, thus giving priority to physical retail stores.

Powered by a dual-core Intel processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, the TAG Heuer Connected is made out of titanium, it's water-resistant, and resembles a classic TAG Heuer Carrera watch. Its features include a 1.5-inch circular sapphire crystal touchscreen display with 360 x 360 pixels, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a 410 mAh battery.

After seeing how successful its first smartwatch is, TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver said that the company plans to develop an entire collection of smartwatches - different models, different materials, and so on. The new collection should be released in late 2016, or early 2017.

And how expensive was that one day? Helicopter rides, new suits, headphones, poker games, eating out. That guy must have blown thousands of dollars! Presumably then the watch is being marketed at very well-off hipsters.

i understand, but then again, i don't want to be connected to my emails and work even when im not looking at my phone.

Hi all new to the forums, been reading the site for a while but only just signed up.

Got my connected yesterday, absolutely love it. I've just retired an lg g watch r and had a moto 360 and original pebble prior to that. I have to say this beats the pants off all of them.

It's a bit bigger than I expected but it looks amazing.

From a pure tech point of view, how does the Connected compare with your other Smartwatches?

In terms of fit and finish there is no comparison. You can tell this is made my watch company rather than an electronics company.

The pebble in comparison is very limited in functionality and basically has no style, but it easily lasts a working week on a charge which is a major plus point. I'm an android user so the integration is good, but not as tight as android wear. The best way to describe it is as a toy.

The Moto 360 was a deeply flawed product. The very old processor made it very jittery a laggy and I was never able to get a full day out of it. I'd leave the house at 6am and the battery would invariably be flat by the time i got home at 7 pm and thats with the always on screen off. I also went through 3 in three months because the back kept cracking due to the lack of lugs and poor design that brought. The only nice thing really was the wireless charging.

The Lg G Watch R was in many ways great and bad in a couple of ways. The screen is extremely vibrant and colourful. The deep blacks of the oled screen made for some very nice looking dark watchfaces and also helped battery life. Sunlight readability was not fantastic however. Battery life was pretty good, from 6am to midnight with 50% remaining on a bad day. I'd usually drop it on the charger at 57%, it was very consistent. The heart rate monitor worked fine, but i never used it. The biggest problem i had with the LG was the bluetooth connection dropping out regularly and therefore missing notification and call alerts (my phones have been on silent for over two years, my Samsung S6 i bought in April has never actually rung out loud!).

The Tag screen is not as vibrant as lg's, however due to the transflective screen there will be no issues in sunlight (I can't claim have tested that in person as in London at the moment it's dark whenever i'm not in the office, but it's a known quality of transflective screens). The 'raise wrist' gesture to bring the watch to life has worked flawlessly so far; neither of my other two watches were as reliable in this regard. The interface has been very fluid with out any hiccups or lag. Again the LG and Moto 360 were definitely not as smooth. Battery life so far; I charged it last night and took it off the charger around 9pm, Its now 8.35pm and its down to 30%. I'm definitely still in the new gadget faze so am touching it and messing with it far more than i normally would. I expect the battery life to be better in the days to come as my usage settles down. Also the next android wear update to Marshmallow 6.0 is said to have some Intel specific code that is lacking at the moment and so I would expect a further improvement in battery life due to this. The voice reply function worked flawlessly in a crowded and noisy shopping mall as well. The LG really struggled with noisy environments.

On the whole really pleased, a definite step up from my previous watches in virtually all ways. The main thing is doesn't look like a toy or a gadget and therefore it can safely replace my old 2000 professional that was stolen earlier this year for formal wear.
