Looks like the poor bloke has a broken back (4 vertebra, no surgery likely) and severely broken heel (surgery needed), for anyone watching the video Peter is the bloke going up the back.

Have to admire his courage keeping the boot in through the dust, Kimi did the same a decade ago at Spa and got lucky, people commended him for the balls that showed. Peter did the same but didn't get lucky.

Thanks for the information, dsio. Injuries are hard enough to take him a lot of time. But in the meantime I could calm down
a lot learning that there is no traumatic brain injury. I think, this
is the worst that can happen to a driver and his family/friends.
In 1992 my sister had a bad accident with a 130 hp motorcycle
at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. She survived by pure accident
because there was a doctor (driving his sportscar) who demanded a helicopter to take her to hospital. But in the following months the family got tenths of years older. Sometimes the charakter of people changes a lot after such an accident.
Therefore I decided to retire from motorsports ( not motorracing). I had the Impression that my patente could bot
stand such a situaton Inge more. In the meantime my parents do not live
any longer, and I don't want my family to pray for me in hospital.
Despite all this, we still are fans of motorracing. Don't know why.
Your ideas/thanks for understanding
Werner

Once motoracing gets into the blood it's very hard to walk away, people will always stay connected somehow, I'm sure we're all sending best wishes and hope to the injured driver for his speedy recovery.

Astonishing crash. Hope for a speedy recovery.

You are right, Pitfitter. It seems to be in my blood (and the blood of my family). Probably there is nothing bad in it. Others have their accidents in the mountains, while sailing etc. Life seems to be dangerous. I agree also wish the driver a speedy recovery.
However, I wanted to point out the "caseback" of motorsports,
which is not so often in the view of the public.
Thanks for putting me on the path again.

Werner

Some crazy scenes at the hail halted 24 hours of Nurburgring, soon as it starts pelting down cars couldn't make it up the hill and just had zero grip, chaos ensues

This is one more reason why the Nürburgring Nordschleife
is called the "green hell".

As bad as that is, its even worse in this footage, almost comedic with three porsches flying off the track and crashing in sync with each other:

In the meantime some GT40s "under a blue sky".
Quattro not necessary this time:

I'm hoping for better conditions too this weekend, but we're only spectating at the btcc at Croft, we will be keeping an eye on Le Mans too though, it seems a car club member is competing in car 66.

Le Mans Free Practice 1 just started 12 minutes ago, looks like rain expected which should make the record number of LMP2 pay drivers interesting.

Le Mans is looking pretty damp this year...sideways safety car!

That 'ring carnage above is pretty typical for any touristenfahrten.
