For the second year in a row, a surprise ending sees Max win the title. Max was always going to win the championship this year, but it was a strange and unexciting way to win it.

It's always anticlimactic when someone wins the title by miles, but this took it to a whole new level.

Even sky were saying it was not full points during the race. seems like a bloody stupid rule to me however.

Race gets stopped after 3 laps and does not restart before end of the 3 hours, winner gets 6 points.

race starts with 5 mins of the 3 hour session left and 3 laps competed - winner gets full points.

in all fairness, it is there in the rules, but clearly that one needs tidying up a bit.

I was referring to the sudden gift of full points. While watching the race live, they kept saying it wouldn't be full points. But suddenly after the race was over, full points made Max champ. The race for second place on the last lap was quite exciting, but had it been known it would decide the championship, it would've been super exciting. As it was, the crowning of Max (with a penalty to Charles and sudden full points awarded) seemed a little anti-climatic.

Nope. But well it was kinda embarassing and no one wanted to talk about it... let's hope Max wins his next title in a suitably heroic manner!

TAG Heuer positioned last year's Titan Monaco as Max's 2021 championship winning watch. They are doing the same with the Dark Lord for this year's championship. For Max fans, I think it's more meaningful to buy one of these to celebrate either championship, as he wore these during his championship campaign. Or even the RedBull F1 watch, since he wore it at the start of the season.

Furthermore, as I mentioned last year, in TAG's entire history they've yet to celebrate a F1 WDC with a specific WDC watch release. There have been releases with Driver's names on them yes, but not specifically a WDC watch. There's always a first time for everything, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

^ That throne was super tacky. Max had the good sense of getting out of it quickly prior to the trophy ceremony.

We can likely expect another gold Carrera for Max. I'd say likely to see it next month.

The JH88 was a gift to Max. He'll probably get another gift again. But I think folks like @kappa_md & @Jim Dollares are hoping for a new release to celebrate Max's WDC. I don't believe that other gold Carrera is it.

Yes I mean something for us mere mortals 馃榿
Kimi had one and so does Sir Lewis. TAG Heuer sponsoring the team or driver who won WDC.

Yes you're right, there have been TH watches with the Driver's name on them released after winning a WDC. So from that perspective, we might get another Max Verstappen F1 watch next year, just like we got a new RedBull F1 this year.

But I don't believe there's ever been a TAG Heuer specifically commemorating a WDC in the way the rare Heuer Carrera 1553 did for McLaren's 1974 championship. So if TAG were to release a new Max watch with something commemorating the WDC on the watch, that will be a first.

For me personally, I'd rather own the watch the driver wore to win the championship rather than a tribute release. This is the reason I much prefer a normal S/el ana-digi, which Senna personally wore a lot, to any of the Senna tribute watches.

Good, important to make sure that the poor masses of fans cant afford to buy it. I guess I can admire the photos...

The moment of this weird chair was so awkward. And Max at that point didn't even know if he had won or not, he asked did I really win and said something like "people telling me I did and I didn't"

I believe the picture in TAG Heuer's IG story was taken at a later time, as he's wearing a different orange cap and has his trophy. During the awkward moment, he hadn't gotten the trophy yet and was wearing a dark Pirelli cap.

The great thing about Senna is that he wore his TAG Heuer watches ON & OFF the camera. Judging by several pictures, you know that he loves his TAG Heuer watches, wearing them casually and also during podiums. I can see that similarity with Dempsey somewho, yet I still had to see the same with Max or Checo. 馃槈

Don't they get the trophy at Christmas time?
