Be better betting on how many laps will it take for Max to lead, Ferrari to mess up, etc?

It seems that 2nd + 5 place penalty is 7th after all

And yet Perez penalty was only 9 places and Bottas 15 place penalty only 3 places! 😵‍💫
Wouldn't it be better to apply a penalty at the end of the race instead of the start? If this is really about restricting engine use rather than mixing up the grid.

I hope the new boy doesn't take Max out at the first corner, Monza of all places to start your first race in the middle of the pack....

Tell you what would be funny, if all the teams agreed amongst themselves to take an extra engine at one race. Then the grid would stay exactly the same as everyone would be 'starting at the back'.

I think it will be good today. If Ferrari can’t win this off the front with an apparent pace advantage over George in P2 and max back in 7th they may as well give up.

that said George shows good race pace and assuming max gets round the first chicane in tact then it could be a really good race.

We can be 100% sure Ferrari will not win but question is if George has enough pace to fight off the Red Bulls during a full race. Would be amazing to see George win today

A win would be great as a farewell tribute to her majesty!

Monza can be crazy! Who would’ve guessed DaniRic winning Monza last year?

Bit of an anti-climactic race unfortunately.

I'm sure they could have brought the safety car in at the end of the penultimate lap.

Yeah that was unfortunate. Took way too long to move Ric’s car. Plan c obviously didn’t work out for Lec. They should have pitted him a lot sooner to stand any sort of chance. Didn’t make any sense at all really. Just left him out there while Max was flying towards him.

I see they very unsubtly pressed the 'mute' button on the crowd when Max got his trophy and then turned it back on when Charles got his.

Safety car or not, Max was clearly 17 seconds ahead from Charles with 7 laps remaining and with better tires. I doubt Charles could’ve made a difference to Max at the end of the race.

Max “maximized” his soft tires to last longer than it should be while still maintaining comparable lap times. Ferrari’s early pit stop gamble for Charles was at hindsight the poor team strategy.

Yes, Max deserved the win for sure. And Toto was quick to praise the race director for following the rules, as he had to really. He was probably worried that Carlos would have Russell at the restart as well.

But it does kind of shine a light on the decisions made in Abu Dhabi 2021. That race should have finished under the safety car, giving Hamilton the win and the WDC. But how would the world have reacted to that?

Oh well, looks like the WDC will be decided in Japan so there won't be any stress this year!

Disappointing ending. Max could take the championship as soon as the next race.

My current set of keys is pretty big, so I doubt I’ll be too perturbed by this. I’ve got one on the way anyway and worst case it will go somewhere else.
Well it arrived - goes well with the Lego Stig! Bulky set of keys that spend life in my work bag anyway.
