Yes, but current RBR/HRC engine is in fact the Honda engine owned and developped by RBR. So, is Porsche taking this Honda engine as a starting point? Or are they making a new F1 engine from scratch?

What I understand is that Porsche will only get a stake in the RB F1 team. What you already wrote, Red Bull technology still uses Honda techniques. This is until 2026. Porsche may then take over the technology? Or Honda will come back? Or Audi steps in? Maybe Porsche only wants to link its name to Red Bull and not the technology.

Perhaps Porsche's eFuel development program has something to do with the step they make? Should eFuel become a success, they can drive the F1 'old school' into the future.😉

But it would look really weird to have the Porsche logo on a F1 car which is using an Honda engine… 😒

I think Porsche will begin to start their branding (and engine) at the start of 2026, time for the new F1 regulation. But the acquisition starts earlier. Honda / RedBull powertrains will still provide engine until 2025, owing to the engine freeze deal.

Info from fox sports,
The deal comes in two parts. The first is the creation of a join venture between Red Bull and Porsche to create a new power unit. The second is Porsche’s acquisition of 50 per cent of Red Bull Technology, which is the company that supplies Red Bull Racing with its complete cars and sister team AlphaTauri with some permissible shared parts.

Autosport reports that Porsche will also take an equal share in Red Bull Racing, the grand prix team itself.

How convenient for TAG Heuer, as they're already partners with both! 👍

What a nice surprise! 😀 Congrats George for his first F1 Pole Position ever, and congrats Mercedes for their first Pole Position of the year after such a difficult first half of the season!
