·‘A season that we’ll never forget’, or at least not for the next ten years or so.
Interesting but ballsy strategy by RB. Max needed to make it happen in Q3 or he would have been toast in the race with his softs behind Lewis. Don’t crack under pressure alright. If Lewis jumps him in t1 this will still happen.
A onestopper will be necessary I think and I don’t know how RB will pull that off. Lewis will be much quicker if Max needs to switch to hards.
Possible strategy: sprint away on softs and keep Lewis behind, hope for a SC from round 10-15 so Max can pit for fresh tyres. He should be homefree then. If no SC Checo should have some sort of trouble and park his car strategically on track 😁
Most likely the two title chasers will come together at some point, taking one or both of them out, ending the season with both sides bickering about who was at fault.
Race day!
I don’t know if I’ll be able to bear the tension of the formation lap and start. I’m gonna wear my garmin as an experiment 😉
This season pretty much had it all, we’ve been very spoiled.
I really want Max to win and I’ll be gutted should lewis become WC again. But ultimately I’ll be at peace with it. They are both in another league and they both deserve it. They fought like lions.
Interesting article about this situation here:
https://www.motorsportweek.com/2021/11/09/senna-vs-prost-was-historic-but-we-dont-need-a-repeat/
But there is a mistake when they write:
'there could be a Senna vs Prost-esque crash at the final round of the year. On both of those occasions (1989 and 1990), the title was decided via a first corner crash between both Formula 1 legends.'
Because 1989 was not a first corner crash. They were racing many laps before that crash.
Also it would be interesting to add that regulations have changed after Schumacher crashed Hill in 1994, in order to avoid another Title won thanks to a deliberate crash. On Event notes, Masi highlights the Int Sporting Code articles related to points deduction -also from previous races- due unsportslike manners… We hope that it is not necessary to apply that 12.4.5 rule, and that we have a clean race 👍
Yeah but if Checo crashes into Lewis then Max gets no points deduction 😁
