I watched it live in Belgium. 3 channels usually show it but both sports dedicated didn’t because of live football…

Watched it here 1AM. Manila Time.

Hats off to Hamilton! What a superb drive! I even thought he was a monster eating everyone’s race 😲 Obviously Mercedes have found a new power upgrade and everyone else is just mesmerize how he could’ve done it and it almost sounded like “cheating” 😗

I still have to give it to Max and Checo. Highlight for me was Checo getting the fastest lap 👍 A trick Mercedes uses in their races 😉

Grid penalties and DSQ doesn’t seen to hurt the outcome when it comes to the combo of Lewis & Mercs. (Supreme Talent & Experience, Superior Package, Super Luck) 🍿

I’m sure LH will move up places 😉 He has the “faster” car! Don’t be sad, be excited! 👍
Yes, you were right! 👍 From 20 to 5 in the Sprint Race, and then from 10 to 1 in the GP! 😀 ::psy::
What an epic victory!! 😀

Today the Mercedes was incredibly fast, but Lewis driving was equally fantastic. With Bottas starting 1st and Lewis 10th, Lewis catched Bottas in very few laps, and then Checo, and finally Max… who should have been penalized for driving off the track and pushing Lewis off the track, and gaining an advantage with that move. Is Masi working for RB? 😕 Because he didn’t send this incident to the Stewards to be investigated! 🤦 Incredible! What a joke! So they had to DSQ Lewis for 0.2 mm in a damaged wing (when RB has been allowed several times to fix their wings under Parc Fermé conditions), but they don’t have to investigate when Max goes 6 m out of the track pushing Lewis to gain an advantage! :whipped: Max was very close to make a 2nd Monza: he clearly prefers to crash instead of being overtaken by Lewis! Fortunately this time Lewis was able to dodge Max!

Well, the fight for both Titles is still open 😀, with Max leading Lewis by just 14 points, and Mercedes leading RB by just 11 points 🍿

It was an exciting race. When I don't want to know the result of something, I stay off the internet completely.

But why is it shown so late in the UK? It was televised live in the US (via Sky Sports UK based), would've been around 5 pm UK time if my time zone math is correct.

Yeah, seems like that is the only way. In the past staying off Calibre 11, news sites and F1 sites was sufficient. But not any more it seems.

Channel 4 have to wait 4 hours to show it I think, only Sky can show it live here and I don't have Sky.

Well thanks to YOUTUBE I found out the result of the race while I have been avoiding finding it out cos it's not on until 11pm here in the UK. Should I bother or should I just go to bed and watch the 5 minute highlights tomorrow. So ******** annoyed about this.

It’s amusing how Merc always clamour about Max being a dirty driver, getting off easy and FIA being against them. Since his F1 career beginning Max has been shaking things up, bringing back hard and exciting racing and he’s been picked on for it by the stewards more than any other driver. Now claiming he has a history of getting off easy is just absurd. This whole Masi being partisan claim is proposterous. Let’s not forget Max was taken out twice by Merc this season without consequence.

Masi:
“You judge the incident on its merits and you have a look at all of it. And let’s not forget, we have the overall ‘let them race’ principles, and looking at it all, with all of the angles that we had available, it was that philosophy was adopted.”

“They’re, give or take, about side-on-side,” Masi added. “So I think that for the benefit of everyone, it was the ‘let them race’ and [we] let them race.”

However Masi admitted he considered showing Verstappen the black-and-white ‘unsporting conduct’ flag for the incident, before he was shown it for weaving while trying to keep Hamilton behind later in the race.

“It certainly came into my mind, and then had sort of looked at it a few more times and it wasn’t far off a black-and-white flag, to be brutally honest, for Max.”

Wolf, the propaganda spinmaster, is now saying Merc has been taking punches in the face all weekend and that it’s the end of diplomacy. Everybody is against them and they have to fight back. The classic populist narrative when the reality is reversed actually.
Two occasions could be called unfortunate. The wing issue, which he would have called a punch in the face if RB would have gotten away with it. And the Max defence issue. Pretty standard stuff for a race weekend of you ask me.

The rear wing penalty was actually largely offset by the sprint race. Like Schumacher Lewis always seems to be lucky in his bad luck. A 5 place drop and a DQ from quali. Yet Lewis started 10th on the grid. And let’s not forget the safety car bring Lewis right up to Checo. What the hell is Wolf complaining about?

The key Merc game plan this weekend was yet again all about exploiting the rule of the ICE not being part of the budget cap and a replacement only costing 5 places. As it has been for a record amount of times this season and it no doubt will be again. It was the perfect weekend for it given the long straits at Imola. Simply take a 5 place drop, turn the engine to 11 and drive everyone to bits. The funny thing is that replacing the ICE actually costs less places the more you do it. Merc Lalaland, everyone +1sec a lap. Hats off to Lewis, superb drive.

After an exciting season Merc has yet again found a way to take the fun out of the championship. A couple of easy 1-2s and that’s that.

Not a Hamilton fan, but that was pretty special
Many seem to be impressed with Hamilton which surprises me. His car was so insanely faster than everyone else that he hardly had to overtake anyone, he just flew by the competition. Like the commentators were saying "passing by is a better description than calling it overtaking"

Anyone agree that the penalty for taking extra engines doesn't work? Maybe it should be 5 place drop for 1 extra engine and increase 5 places for every engine after that? If a fresh engine can overcome 5 places on extra performance is the penalty enough? So 1 =5 places, 2=10 places, 3=15 places, more of a penalty to discourage simply using a new engine instead of an older tired unit.
Also, should the points awarded have smaller gaps between finishing places, 8 points from 1st to 2nd is a big jump, 2nd to 3rd is only 3 points if my memory is working ok?

Thus my comment previously. Assuming they can, if I was RB I’d be inclined to give max a new engine for the last few races. If it changes things like it did for merc, then it’s a no brainier.

I don’t know if it’s Masi’s proclaimed inconsistency or the scrutiny afterwards that’s killing racing. There are just too many rules. FIA should leave more space for real racing. 50k for touching another car? 5k for unbuckling your seatbelt after the race? Drivers used to hitch rides on top of other cars after the race. Hell James Hunt picked up women that way. That was fun.
Yeah T4 was a tight one but ‘driving a competitor of track’ can mean a lot of things and all those cases in the article were different. Masi has an impossible task.
So let me get this straight. Lewis is on the outside and Max brakes late to block lewis from a pass from the outside. So far so good, clever defense, thrilling to watch. Lewis then brakes even later, resulting some in claiming Lewis was next to Max and should be allowed a racing line around the curve. What? He was on the outside, right? What kind of precedent would that be? So Max would need to step on his brakes, lose the apex speed because Lewis went late on the brake? Overtaking just got super easy. Maybe they should install turn signals next. You want to pass? Take the inside and the defending driver may not crash into you on the inside curb. Simple, the way it’s always been, from karts up.

The sports needs consistency and coherence.
I agree, there have been so many dumb and unnecessary fines and loss of positions. If they had immediately punished Max, most of the weekend’s emotion would be lost.

Same rules for every driver.
