Crazy times!
The open road track is of course long gone but up untill the '90s big parts of the current Spa track were part of the normal road network. I have vivid memories of the drive up the raidillon with my parents in their Escort when I was a kid. Still plenty of such roads in that area of the country. Great for cruising!

For anyone who enjoyed the vintage footage of Monaco that I posted a while back, have a look at this 1966 footage from Spa. Check out the car dangling on the edge at 2:39 in particular! 😲
Nerves of steel!

Unfortunately it's Russia.... hardly the best track on the calendar.

I fell asleep watching 😲😲 The only exciting part was the first lap rumble. Hamilton was then given a 10 second penalty when he was leading the race. Drop to 14th then went to finish 3rd in the podium! It is the 6th Hamilton/Bottas/Verstappen podium in 10 races this year 😲😲

Bottas was lucky this time 😁😁

I think the penalty to Hamilton was -like in Monza- totally disproportionate, for those two start tests long before the start of the race. It seems that they want to balance the championship in the offices... :whipped:

The BOP (balance of performance) we can see in endurance and GT’s is introduced via penalties to Hamilton in the F1! 😁

A shame, because with the soft tires that Hamilton had, we would have seen a nice fight between Hamilton and Bottas and Max, which was destroyed with that excessive penalty.

In any case, Hamilton now leads with his number 44 in points advantage, and Bottas consolidates his second position by moving away from Max, and Mercedes-AMG increases its leadership in constructors even more, because once again, only Max gets good points for Red Bull... so it wasn't a bad weekend at all for the black silver arrows 😉

BTW, the fight for the 4th position in the driver’s standings is very tight now, like for the 3rd position in the constructor’s standings! 👍

Sainz moaning about turn 2. Well, Carlos... I'm sorry, but hearing a GP driver moan about a corner being too difficult and causing problems is a bit pathetic. Maybe you should take up drag racing? Although you might find it a bit too fast and scary.
There's no such thing as a bad corner, only drivers not slowing down enough to take it. Maybe we should have Armco around it and then you might drive properly?

As for Bottas' proclamation from the cockpit, it would have been a lot more convincing if you had beaten Lewis on the track wouldn't it? You just made yourself look like a petulant dumbass claiming 'victory' when your only real competition had to sit in the garage for ten seconds.

Well done to Max who delivered yet again and finished very close to Bottas.

While I'm bored to tears of Hamilton winning, I'd rather see him beaten on track. However David Coulthard's partisan whining was ridiculous, if it was Grosjean who had made the practice starts it would have been a whole different story: 'He shoud have known that and that's why he's probably going to be out of a seat at the end of the year... etc', but no it was Lewis so the stewards are stupid.

Maybe the rule is stupid, but if that's the rule then that's the rule - you can't apply it differently to different drivers, which is basically what DC was saying - Oh, we've been robbed of a great race because the stewards applied the rules properly. We weren't robbed off anything, Hamilton would have won, Bottas would have finished second and Max third. The only person who lost was Lewis, though his cries of persecution were about as feeble as Bottas' cries of 'Braveheart'.

Right, who else can I rant about?🫨🫨🫨

Oh, and I loved Daniel's response to being told he had a penalty - 'Okay, my bad I will drive faster'.

Another instance of commentator bias was DCs dismissal of Stroll 'losing it' on cold tyres... and then having to correct himself when it became apparent that LeClerc had thumped him from behind. Contrast this with anytime Lewis laps at less than the absolute maximum 'he must be nursing a problem with the car'. I'm really starting to dislike DC.

Yes, that’s the rule, but the stewards decided the magnitude of the penalty. They could have decided from a fine for the team (in fact it was the team that told Hamilton that he could do the start practice in a different position of the pit exit), or a warning... but a 10 second penalty in the race, for that nonsense? In moments that are not even free practice? That it is only about getting out of the pits and going to the starting grid! It is disproportionate.
Later, however, Leclerc is not penalized at all after crashing and eliminating Stroll at the start of the race... 🤪

😁 Totally agree with you! 👍
Sainz just swallowed the corner and then the wall, it was only his fault

In that case, yes it was disproportionate, especially if the team told him it was okay. But then I guess we've had this situation in the past where the team do something and the driver gets punished...

Max was able to sneak in that tight corner so why can’t Carlos Jr do it? Yup definitely his mistake! He turned in and didn’t calculate the entry 😵‍💫 I agree, Stroll was bumped at the rear by Leclerc and no whatsover investigation needed. 🙄 Hamilton was given a penalty which I believe was too harsh. But didn’t matter because the Mercedes-AMG is far far far superior than any other car and can still claim podium with ease 😲

Maybe in Hamilton’s mind, no big deal, I’m leading the championship and just wanted to equal Schumacher’s 91 GP win right in the heart of Germany 🍿 Will probably equal Schumacher’s 7x Titles this year but will surpass him in GP wins which is the benchmark for many including racers to be the ultimate criteria for the GOAT 😉 (maa, maa) 😁

If Max was given a better or equal car than Hamilton, we could see a better and exciting race. I’m happy Bottas won but actually he didn’t fight for it. He needs Hamilton to makes mistakes so he can win. 😵‍💫😵‍💫

“To Whom It May Concern, please change Bottas” 😜

😁 Bottas is clearly not as good as Hamilton, but at least he can win a race when Hamilton is penalized 🤦... he is usually able to add valuable points for the constructor’s title, and he is in fact just behind Hamilton in the driver’s standings. I think is Albon who should be urgently replaced! There’s no way for Red Bull to fight for the constructor’s Title with only Max scoring good points at every race. When Ricciardo was in Red Bull together with Max, we had much more fun, and Red Bull had more points per race... excepting when they crashed each other! 😁

It’s really hard to be someone who has a teammate which is leaps and bounds more talented than you 😁😁

I’m just in for the exciting and fun race weekends! 😉This has been our favorite pass time given the lockdown restrictions of travelling or watching in movie theaters 🍿

Rosberg admitted it in one of his video logs. Hamilton and Verstappen are the true innate talents currently in Formula1. 👍👍

Having a great conversation here sirs @Albert-AMG & @Aquagraph 😉😉

It must be tough for Bottas, not only does he get beaten every week, but he also has to answer to the media every week. But chirping about your victory when you had it handed to you was foolish. I expect memes.
