Since much of 2020 Formula 1 season start was postponed/cancelled. And 2021 will be the continuation of 2020 season. What will the driver lineup be like for 2021? ::popcorn::

This is probably going to be a very short thread considering the cancellations and postponements.

Did anyone watch the virtual F1 race yesterday (F1 YouTube channel)? Featuring Ian Poulter?! I tuned in for a bit at the end. Wasn't too bad really. I mean obviously not as good as the real thing.

I did not watch that race but have tried watching some earlier ones but watching people play video games just does not do it for me...

It's a cool idea- especially under the circumstances. I think that we will see sports globally doing some really innovative things this year during lockdown...they all need to keep fans engaged.

Good letter from Toto, except modern F1 engines don’t roar, in fact living so near to Knockhill race circuit it’s strange to hear nothing on the wind from that direction.
Out on Sunday in the sun and a Mustang cruised up behind us, despite the wife’s warning I gave the car some “shoe” hauled us in on the straight but the twisties were mine, modded pipes on it and that roared, sounded good but I still rather have a ragtop with a four pot, and a 9.2 rev limiter.

No safety barriers. People allowed at the edge of the track. Monaco looks a lot quieter too. Looks like a much simpler age.

Indeed. My grandfather has a lot of photos he took during the 60's, will see if I can upload some of them to the forum. Amazes me just how close everyone was able to get to the cars, drivers, pitlane etc.

Planet F1 reckons the season will start in Austria in July (with no crowd). Given that Mercedes have let 2/3rds of their 'self employed' machinists go that might give them a few headaches. Still I guess they are unlikely to have got a job elsewhere...

Speculations are on! Why not? :D He probably wants to be in a competitive & championship winning team for him to win the title. It’s just either going to Mercedes (or back at Red Bull?) Red Bull is great IMHO because of the talent of Max Verstappen. But as a team with Honda engine, in my theory, probably not that yet this year, they are still rebuilding but very fordimable. Vettel is a national icon in Germany and he may still have German connections working for him to get a seat at German team Mercedes. I think he is still hungry for a title. If not Mercedes, then he is probably looking at the twilight of his career..

But nothing is final until it is final. It would also depend on how he performs in Ferrari for the 2020 season and who knows? ;) Things turn around like all races in F1.

It may give Hamilton a push if Vettel performs at the same car as him. Like Senna & Prost rivalry! Ferrari and Red Bull will have the young guns taking the fight to Mercedes. All are just my speculations for an exiciting F1 :p Peace!

If Vettel wants to win the title, Mercedes is his best shot. Perhaps he figures if he's going to beat Hamilton, at least having the same car gives him the best chance.

But my hunch is that if Vettel does move to Mercedes and Hamilton stays, Hamilton will come out on top. Ricciardo was already outperforming Vettel at RedBull. So I doubt Vettel will be keen to face Max back at RB. Mercedes seems like his only move.

Another potential scenario is that Vettel and Hamilton swap teams. There's a certain magical aura that lures drivers to Ferrari, so one never knows.

Honestly, my feeling is that Vettel is past his prime. He could very well retire if he doesn't get the right drive.
