It’s anyone’s guess who would win! LOL 😜😜😜
Stroll looking good now, having been handed a free pit stop.

Wow that was not what we thought it would be! Really happy for Gasly 😁 Helmut must be happy with Albon out of points and Gasly nr 1

Stroll on the podium, I had to vomit a bit in my mouth

Who will feel the Hamilton wrath I wonder?
After completing the race I don’t think he is very angry: as a driver he probably enjoyed this race much more than previous races, because he had to overtake and fight for position with many drivers during his comeback after the more than 30s penalty, instead of driving alone all the race in the first position from the Pole Position... and in fact he keeps exactly the same advantage in the Driver’s standings: 47 points. Only difference is the name of the 2nd in the Championship: Bottas (who only takes three points to Hamilton after all) instead of Max... Max is who should be really angry

And after the worst race of the year up to now for the black silver arrows, Mercedes increase by 17 points the leadership in the Constructor’s standings... so it was lost a clear win for Hamilton (because of a disproportionate Safety Car deployment for a parked Haas in a safe place, and because of a badly indicated closing of the Pit Lane), but not a disaster for them after all.
Congrats to Gasly! 👍

It was interesting to see the mercs in traffic, not that easy to just overtake everyone it seems. I guess breaks would be setup differently if they were to expect being in traffic to not overheat constantly (I suppose cars today were setup for what they thought would be a normal vacation relaxing 1-2 win)

The race was certainly eventful, and whilst it was nice to see the delight of some of the other teams and a second place for McLaren, it has strengthened my belief that safety cars simply don't work properly. How can it be right that someone builds up a lead and then because of something that happens elsewhere has that completely wiped out? And in Hamilton's case, how is it right that one 10 second penalty means putting him from 1st to last place? The McLarens also lost out from the safety car, and we lost the chance to truly see how the teams would perform relative to each other on a power circuit.

The Safety Car turns a race into a lottery, and it’s an unfair way to remove all gaps that drivers were building up during previous laps. So SC should be used only in extreme situations. There are yellow flags, double yellow flags, and even the Virtual Safety Car to solve most of the incidents, but keeping the gaps.

But it seems they (FIA/FOM) try to turn the sport into a show, deploying the Safety Car for really minor incidents (like today with the parked Haas on a safe position, that even could remain there until the end of the race because it was not in a dangerous position), so they have again all cars together and with new overtaking and pit stop options that could change the race. Maybe sometimes it could give more suspense to a previously boring race, but it’s not fair... it just turns the sport into a joke

It was an exciting and eventful race! I was only sad that Norris didn't manage to regain his third place after the restart.

I think that is very obvious, mid season rule changes and always trying to "spice things up" just to keep the complaining assholes online happy. Feels like they listen too much to a very few making a lot of noice on twitter and similar

Hamiton's luck is unbelievable, he still comes out of it smelling of roses (championship wise).

So nice to see some different faces on the podium.

Interesting though, the engine setting rule obviously did have an effect, previously I'm sure Bottas and Hamilton would have ended up on the podium.

Luck? You can count the points advantage he could have now (68 vs Bottas and 72 vs Max instead of current 47 and 54) without that Haas parking there, or without that unnecessary Safety Car, or without that badly signaled Pit Lane closed entry... is that luck? 😉 He had the victory totally under control and was taken away from him with an unfair penalty 🤔

No, it’s Gasly who had luck today and won the lottery of the Safety Car and the closed Pit Lane Entry. Hamilton deserved the victory, and Sainz the 2nd position, but Gasly was really lucky! Congratulations anyway!

I’m not sure it did have a negative effect on Mercedes: Hamilton was very comfortably leading the race until the SC, and after the penalty his comeback was impressive in this track where overtaking is not easy, and with the aero settings designed to be leading the race (= not high maximum speed)... but probably it did have effect on Red Bull! 😲 With Albon finishing in the last position, and Max in his worst qualy of the year and with his worst pace and race position of the year until the DNF

It wasn’t Hamilton’s fault he was asked to box because a safety car was deployed. It was his Mercedes’ engineer who didn’t coordinate with him, asking him to box even if the pit lane is closed. 😲 It has to come to a point that a safety car means a knee jerk reaction to box. His engineer can’t explain anything and just told him to “suck it up”! 😵‍💫 But I agree with call of the FIA. They were plainly enforcing the rules. Safety has always been a TOP PRIORITY even over and above leading contenders. It was unfortunate that Hamilton had to take the penalty after the restart thereby giving him a last place before he went up to the points.

Miscommunication handed Hamilton a loss. And gave others a great chance! It is just interesting to see that Hamilton can still do some overtaking while Bottas can’t. Bottas clearly loss positions even before the 1st turn. He loss it again. He seems to be reliant on engine “party modes” to up his game. He even told that his Mercedes race car is a “joke” because he can’t do anything 🙄

The RACE is probably one of the MOST EXCITING in recent times. I can’t remember watching a race which was RED flagged and had to do a standing grid restart. FANS watch F1 only for 1 THING. Excitement! Will you watch a movie if you know it will be boring? Sometimes we watch for race laps over race laps just to get a glimpse of a “millisecond” of unexpected and unpredicatbility. And there were alot! I wasn’t anything at this race but I was hoping it will be exciting 👍

Although F1 is like an entertaining show, it is still foremost a sport like any other. Rules and results. And so, sportmanship values are expected among all race car drivers. A win is a win. And a loss is a loss. I believe Hamilton was able to show that even if he didn’t win.

It has been 24 years since a Frenchman stood in the TOP podium in F1! Great Job Pierre Gasly! ::rimshot::

Good to see both McLaren in the TOP 5 in this race! A great tribute to Bruce McLaren who passed away 50 years ago! (1937-1970) Even with just 4 F1 GP wins, his name lives on all over the world synonymous with supercars and F1 👍

The race was “ghastly” for Mercedes, Ferrari & RedBull but in the end, the race was Gasly for the win (FTW)!
😁😜😎
