From The Guardian:
‘Lewis Hamilton has admitted that were he only a fan of Formula One he would probably tune in just for highlights of races given the dominance he and Mercedes are demonstrating this season.
After a controlled victory at the Belgian GP, Hamilton’s fifth of the season and Mercedes’ sixth from seven races, the world champion believed the spectacle was lacking compared to when he watched Michael Schumacher’s domination as a teenager. However, he insisted it is up to the rule makers to improve the competition.’
by ‘rule makers’ he must mean Mercedes.
Surely a Sky Sports subscription is a small price to pay for not having to listen to David Coulthard?
So... according to this video 'teams must use one engine setting for qualifying/race, so that means no more 'turning the engine down' then. The drivers can drive 'slower' obviously, but they can't turn the engine to a lower setting. Interesting. Wonder how long before they start moaning about that?
no more 'turning the engine down' then
A strange rule change mid season to slow Mercedes down but what makes no sense is that it affects all teams so no one can use "party mode" in qualifying?
Yes, it will probably slow down Mercedes in qualifying, but will make them even stronger for the race... so I don't expect big changes in how points are distributed on Sundays.
The drivers will probably be allowed by their team to rev up the engine more in qualifying than in the race, being a more manual and “old-style” party mode
Yes but slowing down Mercedes in qualifying will change nothing since the rule will slow down all teams?
