·While it wasn't my choice, but i think the Carrera Dato is a worthy winner.
I would have got it if it wasn't limited edition and cost a kidney.

I’ve always thought that the Howdinkee Carrera Dato is a 2020 released, signified by the 160th Anniversary Rotor, just delayed due to logistics & pandemic, so I didn’t really placed it among the 2021 THE / Calibre11 WOTY contenders 😉
But it is a worthy winner nonetheless 👍
Right. Another example is Grand Seiko, they chose to align their date with the hour markers, as their sub-dial is asymmetrical.

I'm actually personally not a fan of Grand Seiko's power reserve indicators. They screw up what would otherwise be a nice elegant dressy design.
On some of the newer ones, they've moved the power reserve to the caseback I think, which is a much cooler touch.

I love them, I find them funky
But this makes perfect sense as the sub dial doesn't draw comparison with the date window like on the Dato.

I did this for chuckles, but actually it kinda works. Makes a nice triangle with the subdial and the Heuer logo...
