I've always thought of this as being the 'retro' Aquaracer, but even this looks more modern than the BB

This is a nice watch! I also like this one better 👍

I always felt those borrowed some styling cues from the Omega Seamaster.

Regarding the BB58, of course it channels retro; it's called the 58 because it takes inspiration from the 1958 Tudor Submariner. But to me, it's really more of a Tudor's greatest hits of yesteryear, packaged in the modern watch making materials & techniques of today.

Also the shape of the hour & minute hands, and red tip on the seconds hand. The outer shape of the bezel as well. (I'm referring to that Aquaracer and the Seamaster 300M.)

One for you to watch Aquagraph. Maybe it'll change your mind about pistachio dials? 😀

there’s a difference between ‘retro inspired’ and ‘dated’. The AR just looks old. It’s a bit like a mgb, not a classic, just old.

I thought about you when this video posted yesterday. Have not watched it yet though but will give it a try tonight even though the title makes me sceptic, I will probably not like what he has to say on the topic.

Admittedly I did have a traumatic 'pistachio' related experience in Belgium once which turned me against it
I think some psychotherapy is in order Rob 🤪

It was awful, there I was in a foreign country and unable to speak the language and I went into a Movenpick bar to buy some ice cream. I saw green ice cream and thought it was mint choc chip - yum, yum, yum! But no, once at the counter I realised it was 'pistachio', under pressure to make a decision I went with it because after all I like nuts and pistachios are nuts. It was horrible, it tasted like bubble gum, I was distraught - so much so that I've never eaten Movenpick since, or been back to Bruges!

Great post Rob. You say everyone loves this "Breitling", I can tell you I don't, but I dont hate it as much as you. This part was awesome:

for every beautiful green there's a disgusting alternative that's guaranteed to make your stomach churn

Not used to see Charlie being the source and inspiration for such hate but he seems to embrace it, so thats good I guess.

I think you clearly associate the colour with bad experiences.

I do like this watch, and I like the fact it is a fairly unique colour. But even I would prefer it in a nice blue 😀
