I guess you could call it a maxi maxi dial. I don't think it looks particular wrong - not sure I would have noticed the text being close to the middle if it hadn't been pointed out.

Go on, you know you want it 😀

But in most respects, the BB58 is a modern dive watch.

That looks like it was designed 50 years ago.

I'm sure the Tudor is 'better' from a finishing standpoint and movement etc, but for me looks outweighs all that. I like modern looking watches and that is why I will never buy a Tudor Black Bay, because it is anything but modern looking.

Fair enough, and I totally get that looks usually trump everything else. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that.

But to me, aside from the faux rivets on the bracelet, the Black Bay blue looks more like a modern watch than a vintage one. I love the vintage snowflake Tudors, but really, this new iteration is completely different.

I too, dream about Tudor an unhealthy amount of time lately. I blame the internet. And Charlie.

I don't think I am obsessed with Tudor. The Heuer Carrera is still my all-time favourite watch, so I'm more obsessed with that. But Tudor do make a great watch, and they're firmly within my price bracket.

We may be arguing the difference between modern build/construction and modern design. I think there are plenty of "modern" watches that play it quite conservative and traditional when it comes to looks. I think what you actually like is something more "avant garde" 😀

I usually prefer the watches I like, for some reason my taste is always drawn to the most perfect designs. I guess this means I have perfect taste.

Agree. It hardly screams retro to me either. I think it only looks a bit dated because we've seen it before and in our minds we know it's an older model. In other words, it doesn't trigger that bit in our brains that says "Oh, that looks interesting, not seen that before".

It's funny... looking at the blue Tudor on the left, when I look at the individual components nothing screams 'old' but it's the combination of everything somehow. And yet the Pelagos isn't that different in detail, but it looks more modern.

The Black Bay 58 Blue is on my short list of watches to get. It's just enough vintage and modern for my tastes.
