It’s always tricky, even now.

For example, is the Solargraph 2022 as announced or 2023 as that’s when they finally arrived? UK at least.

I've seen some others list the salmon dial as 1996 as well. But I'm not sure if this is because they're just following what's listed in the TH book or if it's based on something else. Based on the catalogues, I would also say it's from 2000, as it doesn't appear in any previous catalogue. OTOH, we know just because something is stated in a catalogue doesn't make it 100% correct either (i.e. 1000 Chronos, 1964-2004 40th Anniversary Carrera etc.) and catalogues don't necessarily show all of the models in a given year.

Yeah, this is a big problem. My Grand Carrera History (first one I did) was a right mess when I first did it because I presumed the catalogues were comprehensive - but then models would come and go, which made no sense. They don't show all the strap variations either, Nicholas was very smart only doing the watch heads - so much easier.

I put this as 2022, IIRC. I think there was limited availability in 2022, but it definitely became widely available in 2023. I remember asking in Autumn 2022 when it was coming and they said they could order it in if I wanted to pay a deposit.

I tried everywhere and nobody could get one until 2023. Same on TH’s website.

I would call it a 2022 piece though, despite barely anyone seeing it until 2023.

I'm sure some people got it, there were Instagram posts.... didn't someone here, maybe Snowy get his in 2022?

Happy to be proven wrong.

Criteria being those purchased through the usual retail channels in the UK and not given priority to influence hype on social media.

To be honest, it doesn't matter.... if even one person had one then it was a 2022 release. Plus if it was announced in March I couldn't exactly ignore it at year end.

Wasn’t meaning that you shouldn’t have. Was just sympathising with the Carrera timings proving difficult. That was all I was getting at. 😀

Really enjoyed the two-tone post. Number five was a bit of a surprise, nice level of douchebag on that one I must say. My list would look different but I definitely like the top three

Well, I wanted to add something a bit different so it wasn't 5 Aquaracers.... plus its the only one with a green dial that I can think of.

That was a really fun read, but it really could have used a WN1150 😁 😜 I’m glad I’m not the only one enjoying two tone. Although I do feel like a dad. *adjusts tv tint settings*

I think the Grand Carrera screws thing was disproven a long time ago. Someone actually posted an exploded view of the Grand Carrera on here and it shows actual screws. There was a famous video on YouTube showing the glued on screw heads falling off, but that was a fake watch.

Oh wow I had no idea. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though, right? Wow. Very cool. I learned something new today. Thank you, Rob!
