I feel like it would be cool to do 2019 at least, if only because of the Anniversary Monacos...

Does only going back to 2019 effectively answer the assertion 'watches arent as good these days'

Maybe I should put my team of science researchers on answering this question.

I’d be happy doing 2019 on and letting Aquagraph give us a selection of the likely best, voting on all releases might be a bit much depending on how many came out in a year.

But we already did a COCO vote on the 50th Anniversary Monacos. Also did one for the Gulf watches. I'd prefer this kind of voting, grouping certain categories of watches.

Going backwards would be like giving Oscar awards to movies that predated the first Academy Awards. They don't do that, neither do most types of awards. But if others want to vote on 2019 just to see the Red Monaco 50 win again, whatever...

Unfortunately the Monaco wasn't scored in a comparable manner, otherwise it wouldn't be necessary.
But you know what I'm thinking maybe it would be better to do little groups of things now and again.

A best watch from the last 5 or 10 years might be a good one, but no need to include every model - just a carefully picked selection. Otherwise, agree that we shouldn't really go back in time but look forward instead.

You could do it in a fun way - pit two models against each other (like they did with the Autavia cup) and then eventually narrow it down to best watch.

I'd be up for something like that. Provided that COCO members can nominate their favorites.

There are many other interesting categories too. Such as best heritage re-edition, best from each decade, best Senna, best modern Carrera etc.

This is all wonderful, but I can't help feeling cheated. I was really hoping to hear Adam's excoriating opinion on my skeleton Carrera...

Best modern Carrera? Are you sure about that?

Yup, you can include your skeleton as a nominee too and let Adam have at it. ::stirthepot::

One question is whether to include the Calibre 17 Carreras, like the Pandas you missed from the 2016 list.
    https://forums.calibre11.com/threads/new-heuer-carrera-calibre-17-pandas.43658/

These aren't exactly reissues, but they are branded Heuer. I'd classify them as neo-retro, although I think of them as more modern when comparing to the glassbox or the original 90's reissues.

In thinking about it more, the Calibre 17 Carreras probably fall more into the heritage category rather than modern.

I'm thinking all the 39mm 'Heritage' Carreras together.
