TAG Heuer announce Google/ Intel Partnership Android Smartwatch Coming

I have been pondering on the nation of connected watch, keeping in mind the racing heritage of Tag Heuer.
What if for instance it could log lap times, pit stops, acceleration etc.. onto a phone app?

Why do I need a smart watch to do that? I'm sure there are already phone apps to do that.
