Google & Intel! Clearly those two both want to compete with the Apple watch but don't have the ability to put together the physical case, bracelet and detailed finishing on a par with or a step above Apple's to compete in that higher price bracelet the Apple watch is sitting in compared to those Galaxy Gear watches in the past. Android Wear will actually be on a par with the Apple watch interface and give them compatibility with all the Samsung, Google, HTC etc phones out there. Intel definitely have the chops to handle the hardware side too.

Intersting question on "Swiss Made"- Biver indicates that they will talk with the federation about "adapting" the rules for smartwatches that have processing engines (processor) coming from outside Switzerland

Biver likes to be the show masterpiece, doesn't he? ::rimshot::

It's good to know the smart watch will look like a Tag Heuer, and not some gadget to the likes of current smart watches.

The whole point of that new legislation was to protect the prestige of Switzerland's watchmaking industry, there's no Swiss semiconductor industry to protect so I don't see why there's be a problem adjusting the rules for a smartwatch.

Wired just released their article on this too btw:

I posted this on the feed comments already, but seriously can't believe Biver shouted out "You will eat my cheese". Does he not realise either the irony of such a comment, or that it makes him sound like Alan Partridge?

Seemed a bit like fish-out-of-water for all involved. Too much hype for simply announcing the partnership. We'll have to wait and see. What I can say is that the Internet Trolls are going to have a field day with some of these gems.

I think the announcement was particularly timed to get it out there between Apple's big launch a couple of weeks ago and Apple's actual pre-order and availability date in April. Apple got out there pitching a $350-$1000 product in steel and portrayed it as high end, TAG, Google and Intel just offered to up that level again.

I consider the Apple watch as more fashion / gadget / lifestyle as opposed to a potential timepiece from TH.
Although I am an Apple user, I'm not really eager to get one.

Let's hope this new association will really bring out something worthy of all the excitement.

Interesting how even the official TH website designer made the logos narrower.
