Other things Heuer / TAG Heuer

I suppose, but what is the point? It's annoying that they made it out of something which is so easily damaged....

You could probably get a protective dust-jacket made for it (it would have to be specially made, with protective material on the inside), but yes; it's a silly material to put on a book cover.

I still wouldn't have a three foot tall bookshelf to put it on...

Not sure if the other editions have it, as this one is more prominently branded TAG Heuer on the front cover (the other editions in red/silver have a much smaller logo only), but it includes a fixed insert at the start of the book with a short message from Babin (small error in spelling "Jeaan") and some Monaco blurb.

Much better idea to keep it sealed and get a second copy you don't mind handling.

My second one arrived today, and given the price (£60 shipped) it's remarkably good condition. First one I bought was much worse (see a few pages back on this thread), but made profit on the resale (enough that the new one is effectively "free").

Just wanted to thank you guys for reminding me about the existence of the Assouline-edited TH 150yrs book. Since France has a pretty well developed online second-hand books market, I was pretty sure that I would be able to find one for a rather low-ish price. And that’s what I did over the weekend…

Picked it up from the depot yesterday and spent a pleasant 90min with it 😀 It is, however, not really a book for those who prefer avid reading over looking at nice pictures 😉 So I thought I’d point out - for those of you who read French - that there’s another book out there (That also pops up for cheap on various platforms every now and then), which offers a bit more content on the brand's history (IMHO):

Available, for example, on Amazon.fr:

Interesting - the title translates to Mastering Time, correct?

Yes it roughly does - but it’s from a completely different author (The one of the „official“ 150yrs book being Gisbert Brunner, I believe?)…

I don’t think it’s a 100% plagiarizing effort, but let me take a snapshot of the TOC.

Here we go. “Depôt légal” is actually in 2012, which kind of makes it the most recent of the bunch…

For what it’s worth: The same author and editor have also done a similar history book on Zenith, which tends to come up (sales platform wise) in parallel to the TAG Heuer one.

I'm sure it's not plagiarism or anything of the sort - it's almost certainly a coincidence that the translated title matches! My copy of Mastering Time is at work, I'll take some comparison shots on Tuesday (or someone else with a copy can if they've got it to hand!)

Even Paul Newman was a fan of other things Heuer! 😉

An interesting post from @niccoloy explains the background of this jacket and the Heuer patch.

Yes, of course it's upside down! 😉

I’m not sure if that charging stand is for -probably- Gen1 Connected, or for Gen2 Modular 45… but in both cases, it’s upside down 👍

Is it for sale somewhere?

Yeah - it was 😀 I wasn't quite sure whether it was *definitely* C46 or CM45 - seller on eBay had it listed as CM45, so at least I can return it based on that. Having done some research, particularly on the company Outform's FCC applications for a table-mounted security version, I'm pretty confident it's compatible with the CM45. Outform also apparently did the C46 window displays (the wire-mounted ones with coloured hexagons) as well as a variety of variations on this cuff mount (a couple of different hex display mounts like this, a table mount (with security alarm features) and a wall/bracket mount).

Congratulations! 😀 It’s a nice find! 👍

I have a CM45 display (probably also by Outform) that should be compatible with that hexagon… so I hope you have luck and that it is for CM45! 😉

Also, the video of "Once Upon A Wheel":
If you watch the video of Once Upon A Wheel, I think Mario is wearing his Autavia "Andretti" in this clip at 6min 15 secs in. Hard to tell for sure given the quality of the video and glare on the dial.

Also an added bonus from the opening sequence, a Gulf Racing fan back in the day. 😀
