I’m in the camp that likes the text “Heuer02” / “80 Hours” @calibre11user 😉

Agree on you with the marketing aspect. It’s a technological prowess of TAG Heuer so I don’t mind if they show it. Besides I have 4x other Calibre Heuer 02 movements that doesn’t show it so it’s an additional welcome for me 👍

Expected in November. They are variants of the 44mm Sports Carreras.

Can we request that TAG Heuer make the date background black and the date text white for this model Carrera Sports 44mm? It’s quite annoying TBH 😡

Comments posted in the forum do provide valuable insight and feedback to TAG Heuer. However, this particular model is already released, so don't expect changes.

Yep I figured that out. There must be some intelligent reasoning behind that white background on a black dial that we don’t know 🙄. Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to wait for the 2 other versions. Hope they are really nice as well! Thanks sir @Hubert 👍

The Anthracite would be my pick. I can quite see a visit to the outlet in a few years to add one to the collection.

Anyone else thinking the an Anthracite and Gold one would look great too?
Agreed, anthracite would be my first pick and the one with gold tones second choice.

If you don't like the "unnecessary scribbles" of "80 Hours" on the dial, then how do you feel about the Rolex Submariner?

Rolex sure are ridiculous with their dial texts. Also looks insanely bad with how they put their brand name in every space available! "ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX....."

yes that’s precisely the one I had in mind when making the comment. Tried that one one last year an outlet. Very nice. But I prefer the horizontal rather than 3,6,9 rather than 6,9,12 sub dials arrangement which looks unbalanced to my eyes.
In general I also tend to prefer the 3,6,9 layout but I much prefer the 6,9,12 if the running seconds has an actual dial compared to the no sub dial running seconds of these H02 Carreras

This is (or very similar to) my boss's Rolex... although it doesn't have three colour gold centre links - I'm guessing this might be fake?

Jim - I don't disagree. Many watch brands do it.

truth be told in general it does not bother me as much as the piss poor quality. I’m having a huge dose of buyer’s remorse on these new H02. I don’t get that with Omega and I doubt I’ll get it with Rolex.

Probably why I made fuss about the text. It is the least thing that is actually wrong with these watches tbh. They are garbage.

Sorry to hear that you regret getting the new Carreras.

Whoa that is some tough words for these new pieces 😲😁 I dont think they are garbage but everyone is entitled to their opinion of course.

In the end it all comes down to preferences I suppose and I guess its quite common that people "out grow" Tag. You have been into e.g Omegas for a while and once you take that step up on the premium ladder I think it is difficult to go back. For me Tag and Breitling are the most "premium" brands I own and they are quite similar in my opinion. I fear though that when the day comes and I finally get myself an IWC I might eventually start to feel differently about Tag...

I’m really surprise you said that @THJunkie after purchasing two Heuer Carreras! (Carrera Silver 160 & Carrera Montreal) 😲😲

To help you out with your woes, I have a large garbage bin in my house which can probably accomodate those two 😁😁 No need to worry about them after 😉😉

Are you able to expand on the quality issues?

I think that's true, at the end of the day everything is only made to it's price point - I struggle with the prices of new TAG Heuers, I'd rather buy ten pre owned Kiriums than one new Carrera.

I can only blame myself for purchasing without having them in my hands. Unfortunately due to the current climate and being far to busy to visit the AD I had no choice. They sat in the AD for 3 weeks before I had time to even pick them up. And sat in the box at home another two weeks before I had time to test them out properly. I had put them on briefly to take some photos to send onto others that had DM'd me. But had music on in the background at that time. Yesterday had some rare free time and spent a bit more time with them. I was very surprised by the high level noise coming from both therefor and the winder. TH have pushed the prices up on these models and there was talk of the overall build quality improving. So far from what I can see same case, strap quality and clasp from older similar designs. So prices has gone up without any real hike in quality. I'm just glad I did not pay anywhere near retail for them.

@Aquagraph - You're quite right that. Everything is made to a price point. I guess ultimately I only have myself to blame. I'm regretting buying two fords for the price of a Merc just because they were "pretty".

@Jim Dollares - I think you are quite right. I was perfectly happy with the quality of the Monaco (first recent TH/H I bought about 2 years ago) - until I bought a Speedy Racing. Then realised how many corners TH cut to reach a particular price point. This issue is in my head rather than a real fault with the TH watches I guess. I realise I'm comparing Apples and Oranges here despite @calibre11user's thinking about where these watches compete. Yesterday I wish I'd stuck with the original plan to pick up a DSOTM rather than buy two Carrera's. I think once I get over the initial shock and get some noice cancelling headphones I'll get over it. You're right "garbage" is too harsh.

I'm done with buying new THs now. Thrice bitten (including the Tele18). I had the exact same feelings after buying that watch too. Difference is this time that I had expected a little better given all the fuss about the new movement and it being a "flagship in house". To me they'd have done better sticking with their previous ones as I can't tell a single benefit from the new ones when it is on the wrist. Only the drawback of if being very noisy and generally feeling unrefined.

Rant over. These are 1st world problems and put in context trivial and of no real consequence. They are just watches after all. I need to cure this daft addiction really. I'll tone down the negativity now. And I apologies to those whom it may have annoyed.

If I ever get to spend on watches other than TAG Heuer, it would most probably be Breitling. But I hope that days never comes 😁😁

I’d just save up for that Porsche Carrera @Mspeedster 😉😉

I dont think you are being too negative @THJunkie , this is a discussion well worth to be had. I dont know exactly how to phrase it but to me I still have this feeling that Tag is trying to sell 3500 dollar watches for 6-7000 dollars. They are just too expensive for what you get.

Another example is when I was window shopping for wv5111's on C24, which I occassionally do, I found a photo of the movement and learnt that Tag used a plastic movement holder on a 3700 dollar cosc "calibre 6"... small details combined that summarize to a product not worth the asking price...

I appreciate your honest to goodness review/opinion sir @THJunkie . We all learn somehow from this and hopefully it comes out as a constructive feedback to TAG Heuer. If I may share my honest view when it comes to all types of “luxury” things.
It will only depend on how much the buyer is “willing to pay” for such. It can not actually boil down to just quality materials, heritage, craftmanship, technology etc etc It’s like stock market where perception is a huge factor no matter how numerical/logical things should be. People are willing to pay this MUCH money for this certain Watch. Call it crazy but that is perception. And this drives the market and price. So price per se is not a good indicator IMHO. For me what is truly important is if you are happy and content with your purchase. When you start to compare to others, that is the start of dissatisfaction. There will always be greater and lesser people than you and will also apply in things. For me, money is irrelevant when we are all gone 😉 Happiness and content is the key in life 👍 I am thankful to be able to buy things I love and sharing this passion to everyone equally gives me this happiness, not just the material things I have 😁 Cheers!

I've been saying for a while that I feel priced out by TAG. I don't believe any of their pieces should cost more than about £3500, but the price has continued to rise every year. I guess this is why I just couldn't bring myself to drop over £5k on the 160th Carrera and bought the Telemeter instead. Even people who buy luxury need to know they're getting their money's worth.

Bottom line is, by moving up, they've vacated some of the middle ground and allowed Tudor to take some of that market. The Tudor Heritage chrono is £3390 on bracelet (yes I know it's an ETA). The Black Bay 58 is £2760 on bracelet with in-house calibre, despite the huge demand. Let that sink in.
