Lower thickness and L2L in the region of 48mm puts it back in the ideal size.
Only small thing I'd change is maybe take out the running seconds entirely, and give a strap option for all of them.
But overall it takes elements from the old design but still looks modern. Big winner.

If the Carrera Sport had these case dimensions it'd be even better but that's another thing entirely. Why does the black Carrera Sport not have a black date window like the black Carrera Elegant?

Looks like a Fujiwara.
And looks very plain.
Feel like it needs a Running Seconds, 80 Hour Reserve and 02 branding.

I would just remove the “HEUER 02 80 HOURS” text (that could be placed just on the caseback), and I would put the classic “SWISS MADE” instead

I did it that way for my Connected Modular 45 version of the CBN2012 😉, and I really prefer this dial without the “HEUER 02 80 HOURS” text

Not a fan of the ‘80 hours” or calibre on the dial. Bit like having “GTI” on the back of a car. Pointless and clutters up the clean lines.

There's a very good marketing reason why "80 hours" is on the dial.

Quite obviously. They have to make a big deal of something. It just looks s**t.

Just gld they didn’t put that nonsense on the ‘real’ anniversary Carreras.

But does anyone honestly think someone's going to buy one of these over a Daytona, Hublot, or pretty much anything else on that list? Not detracting from the engineering achievement - and they sure as hell should market the ehll out of that. Just not (in my personal opinion) do so on the watch face. Put it on the case back if they must. Who cares about that. There’s not much worth looking at back there anyway.

This is like Acer trying to outdo Apple by bragging about the cpu. Yes very cute - but not the same market at all. As if someone who’s buying an AP or a Daytona will suddenly buy one of these because they save a few hours before having to wind. The idea is laughable. Winder cabinets make anything beyond a few days power moot beyond technical prowess anyway.
Still great to see Tag lead on movement capability all the same. That’s certainly worth talking about on the poster in the Boutique.

The Anthracite would be my pick. I can quite see a visit to the outlet in a few years to add one to the collection.

Anyone else thinking the an Anthracite and Gold one would look great too?

Why does (did) Zenith put "36,000 VPH" on their El Primero watches? To show off its technical excellence.

I agree that these engineering features won't make much impact on a Rolex or Hublot buyer; they've already made up their mind. But TAG Heuer watches with the Heuer 02 are in competition with Omega, Breitling, Tudor, as well as TAG Heuer's own Calibre 16 watches.

Tag may well like to think that, but sadly they are not. Completely different league of finish and price point. a few cents worth of ink on the dial won’t change that. I have more or less equal number of Speedmaster and Carrera so am under no illusion that they are competitors.

frankly speaking if Tag were really serious about competing with e.g Omega - their they would better focus on their straps, clasps, case finish, movement ‘smoothness’ and warranty. Power reserve would be bottom of my list to be honest. Especially it it comes at the expense of refinement (H02 is not a refined movement noisy, rattly and feels like a valjoux to wind!). But then again if they did all that and still maintained their high margins - then they’d have to charge at least 50% more for their product.

i genuinely like these new models though - just dislike the unnecessary scribbles on the dial. That is all. Had they put that nonsense on the 160th or Montreal I’d have not have bought them. Zenith can do what it like. i don’t buy them so have no opinion on their dials. Same goes for Seiko and their ‘high beat’.

omega need to drop the ‘master coaxial’ nonsense too - just for balance. Their marketing hype on the dial is getting longer and longer with each generation!

If you don't like the "unnecessary scribbles" of "80 Hours" on the dial, then how do you feel about the Rolex Submariner?

Potentially yes. TAG Heuer have history there too with the rose gold Calibre 1887 with an anthracite dial:

Or the Daytona? The Daytona has War and Peace written on the dial.

Same stance. They all do it. I get your point about that. Does not mean it has to be there or that it has to be appreciated. But if I could actually get a sub I’d probably overlook it. As it is a very high quality and elegant sports watch. it is a Sub so I’d overlook it. I’ve ‘lost’ enough on TH to buy a few Subs by now lol

yes that’s precisely the one I had in mind when making the comment. Tried that one one last year an outlet. Very nice. But I prefer the horizontal rather than 3,6,9 rather than 6,9,12 sub dials arrangement which looks unbalanced to my eyes.
