Is my Vintage Heuer Authentic? All questions here please

The overall appearance is 1950s to mid-60s, but I do not think Heuer were using anything but round cases with external lugs until 1969. The Heuer shield looks very crowded, and the minute and hour hands are not matched in shape. The sub-dial hands are not matched but as far as I can see Heuer only used matched plain baton hands for all sub-dials. The railroad track minutes/seconds is unusual too, Heuers generally seem to have a single line with ticks sticking out.

Too many questions here 😵‍💫

I thought it didn't look right and like nothing I'd seen before. Could be a Franken?

Hi,
how about that buckle, does some of you guys can say if its authentic?

Hard to say. The key to original buckles is that the Heuer shield is a separate part welded on. Modern reproductions are made all as one piece. I have one repo but is clearly is a repo, no attempt to put the markings on the back. Looks fine on a watch.

Thanks for looking, appreciate your input! 😀

I don't love it, it looks a lot "fresher" than others I've seen. Luckily, I just so happen to be wearing my Carrera today, on which I have a sun buckle - here are a couple photos for comparison:

As @MRC correctly points out, you can clearly see the soldering bead on the shield. Also, every single sun buckle I've seen has a darker Heuer logo, maybe it's tarnish. And lastly, the "SWISS" mark is not centered below the sun as it should be.

In summation, I don't like this one - unless it's priced like a repro B buckle (about US $50, vs about US $500 for a genuine sun buckle)

I think an outright fake. I’m not sure there’s a single genuine Heuer part on it. Just too many things are off, and that is the opposite of a Heuer which just look right.

Great input, thanks at @abrod520 and @MRC !

You all have got to see this

This is my favorite fake ever for how stupid it is. The best part are the 1990s Omega Seamaster 300M hands on what is supposedly a 1960s Heuer ::facepalm1::

that is truly shocking and no doubt some poor fool will buy it because a) blind of b) thinks it’s a rare prototype Heuer. 🤨

Doesn't look correct after reading through that thread...

Edit: check his feedback. Sold a fake Heuer recently.

To me, the dial and hands look to be from a different time period to the case and movement. And I am suspicious of the Heuer logo and serial number on the movement.

Agreed. No open “6” and “9” on the dial, incorrect numbers on the case back and movement. I think the movement was not signed correctly too. Thanks all!!

Phew, managed to dodge this

Hi There, have an opportunity to purchase a watch I have been after for a long time. I have done my checking, comparing with photos from On the Dash versions and think she is OK. Anyone here think different?

Looks fine to me.

To be honest the Calculator is not a watch I’d expect to be Franken or faked just because it’s such an abnormality due to size and the case style.

I've been offered this Night Diver but is it correct? It's got a black date wheel and it's missing the lume dot on the bezel. Is that easy to fix?

The only black date wheels I've seen are on the TAG Heuer's. So is it a non-correct replacement?

Awesome. No issues here and great condition. The 980.031 came with both white and black date wheels. IMO the black is a superb variation and more coveted than the white. Lume dot can be replaced by someone who knows how to-depends on the country you're in but I can recommend good people. Where is the bracelet though? It diminishes the value somewhat without. (Feel free to PM me if you'd like any more info.)

Thanks Steve. You're a gent.

I'm in the UK. I've used Richard Askham before at The Watch Spot for a Heuer?

No problem Steve. Rich does fantastic work....however he doesn't work on Quartz anymore (nor any Omegas incidentally since the apparent 'parts crisis.' 😵‍💫 ). I haven't used Rich for lume work before but believe he only really deals with full services these days too.

James Hyman is the go-to man for lume and paint work-I'll PM you his details.
Best,
Steve
