Tension ring is easy, no worries there. Adjusting the chrono hands shouldn't be a problem either unless it's not just an alignment issue, but if the price is right it'd be worth going for.

Thank you for your helpful response. The asking price is $7,995. For these triple register Carreras most of the prices I have seen are upwards of 10K. I think I could get the seller to go down another 10-15%.

Thoughts?

Generally the silver dial models go for less than that, and with the issues with the movement I would expect $5-6k max. Probably the lower end of that range.

Ok thanks! You mention issues with the movement. Can you expand on that please? That watch is powered by a Valjoux 72 correct?

@abrod520 Never mind! Other than the current problem I mentioned, somehow I thought you meant there were other issues with that particular movement I was not aware of 🙄

Thanks again!

Hopefully it's just an alignment issue. The V72 is as excellent a movement as its reputation suggests. But recently parts have been a lot harder to come by so it might not be as easy to get fixed if it needs anything replaced.

Have a question. This is a Carrera ref 7753NST. I noticed the movement is double signed 'SWISS'. Is this an indication that parts are all not original?

Interesting find online. Pretty rough looking case (at least still “serviceable”) and crystal and bezel insert would probably need to be changed against aftermarket parts for an acceptable look. On the other hand, the dial - while faded - looks still fine…

Where I am scratching my head are the hands: According to OTD, these should always be painted all the way down to the pinion; same general impression on C24:

All in all, I have only seen one other 11630 Autavia currently on C24 that has these “two thirds” hands… Does anyone know (possibly among our experts like @abcoro or @Jeff Stein or @Yago) what’s up with these hands? Maybe these were service hands at one short moment in time? Or do they come from completed unrelated models?

Do we have a problem with the forum's photo server? It looks like between yesterday and today, the JPEGs in the above post just disappeared… 👎

They look like maybe from a Breitling or one of the other Chronomatic partner models.

Owner says he doesn’t know, but believes they may be service hands… 👎

Anyone else wants to take a shot at this? 😗 What I find weird is that they seem to have the exactly correct length…

Hallo everybody, found a well priced listing for a Heuer Carrera 73653, but the seller only has murky photos of the watch. Was wondering if anyone could let me know if it’s real or not, or maybe let me know what I could ask the seller to take photos of to check.

Looks real to me but as with any vintage watch purchase, value comes down to condition and the correctness / originality of parts. I'd check out examples on OnTheDash.com and do some research to ensure it's worth what's being asked.

Somebody stop me from considering this early Big Eyes '50s chrono. It can't be legit as it's currently around the $2k range. Obvious relume job but I am curious because of the sparkling clean silver dial, subdials and of course the Heuer logo. Coming from Vietnam too so it should be self-apparent that this might be a problem. Offered as Ref. 404 with a Val. 23 movement.

I suspect a redial.

Same here. The Heuer logo on the dial seems definitely off (the H and the second E in particular) 👎

Thanks for the feedback fellas. 👍 I figured it was a nice remake but in the end it didn't make much sense for me to buy a replica. BTW, it sold for $3K

Hi - I have just acquired the attached. Can anyone help identify it.

I was lead to believe it was made for the British Yachting Team

That looks... wild 😲

Pretty sure a modo will move it to the "appropriate" thread where there's a bigger chance of you getting an answer...
