Hi - I have just acquired the attached. Can anyone help identify it.

I was lead to believe it was made for the British Yachting Team

Sorry man, but that is very not genuine.

^Last post by @Mike Langdon asking again about the same watch, moved to this specific thread

Mike, I also think your “vintage Heuer” is not genuine 🤔. Being probably a fake/invented watch, it’s very difficult for anyone to tell you what it is.

Anyway if you add more pictures (caseback, sideview showing case shape and crown, movement…) would be helpful

Please do not post questions about this same watch in other forum threads again, as this thread is where we answer this kind of questions 👍

Hi everyone, I hope you’re doing great! Long time lurker of this forum but it’s the first time I post anything here.

I would really appreciate a hand to have a bit more information on this watch. I was offered a Heuer watch recently and according to the seller it’s the model 844-2. I’m not even sure that it’s a 844-2 since this model seems quite different from it. What’s odd is the fact that no model number is stamped on the case back or behind.

I made many many research to seek information about it online but it was unsuccessful unfortunately. Most Heuer dive watch had a crown guard and the hands were quite different. For example, all of them had a ‘’Mercedes’’ hour hand which is missing on this one. Maybe it’s another model?

I really like this model since it reminds me of the vintage Seamaster 300. The things is, I’m not sure if the movement was recased or if it’s Frankenwatch.

I’ve attached some pictures to the post. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Adso, I was once a lurker too, so congratulations on joining the party!
Unfortunately this one is fake in every way possible, as you wisely suspected.

Thanks a lot Holtz! I’m gonna inform the seller so hopefully a potential buyer won’t fall on it thinking it’s genuine

Wonder if anyone could help? I recently purchased a vintage Carrera 3647NT. The movement is missing its original part (circled) with the 17 jewels txt stamped on it. Currently seems to have a generic part put in. Anyone knows where I could find such a piece? And what is it called? I'm also planning to check with Grand Central Watch in Manhattan and see. Thanks in advance!

Would appreciate some opinions on this Autavia Ref.73663 KAF issue, please.

Valjoux 7736

I cannot find a similar example of this dial & hand configuration, being white hands, orange chrono sweep, no colour on the hour markers, a well wrist polished KAF 441 on the case back and a serial of 201 101 between the lugs.

When charged under UV light the hands take between 3-4 min to fully discharge - Looking at the hands I have put this down to possibly just phosphor reserves on the sizeable hands real estate or a great aged relume job? However, I have seen 100% original chunky Flightmaster hands with extended lume times and have put this down to the phosphor excited by sunlight or UV light. Thoughts on the handset?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone with an idea what this beauty on C24 could possibly be? 👎

It's similar to some chronographs Heuer produced under their own name and for others, and I think this one is one of the latter that has been re-dialed in the hopes the Heuer shield means a higher price.

Not sure whether I missed a great opportunity due to sloppy f/up or dodged a bullet…

This date-only Pasadena was auctioned off online (but quite locally) for <<1.5k 😲

From the exterior everything seems to add up (including the reference number on the case-back).

What gives me pause is that the rotor of the Valjoux has a “TAG-Heuer” engraving although OTD states that this Pasadena model was already introduced in 1982 - so well before the sale/acquisition of Heuer.

Also, the font of the engraving looks a bit fishy to me. But even if it’s just a doctored movement, I’m still kicking myself a bit…

Nothing strikes me as odd here initially, but I haven't reseached the H/Th crossover on these, which may well be feasible. Is 1.5 ($?) a good buy on these? I'm sure I've seen them for a little less....

Hi Steve! I was arguing in CHF or EUR (not GBP) 😉

I thought it was a good price (even given that it’s a rather “plain” model - but in correct condition).

But then again, it might mainly be indicative of the disconnect between the real market prices and what some professional dealers on C24 still cling on to…

Well - wouldn’t you believe it… It has popped back up. Guess the first buyer didn’t follow through.

I suppose that’s a sign that I should give it a try. At that price level, the risk seems pretty minimal 👎

As long as it’s a Valjoux, the watch should be serviceable and hence good to wear…

I was actually talking USD! I'm sure I've seen these 7750/5100 types at around/less than £1000GBP. You can get a cal 12 Monza for around £1600 now.....

Maybe this is meant to be though....condition does count for a lot tbf. 👍 Good luck!
