Is my Vintage Heuer Authentic? All questions here please

Hi guys,

i purchased a vintage Heuer diver.
But now I’m not sure if it’s a genuine model, because I can’t find pictures of this model.
(I haven’t found a similar model with the longer triangle on the 12)

Does anybody know the model number?

I hope someone could help me with my “struggle”.

Big thank you

The model number is on the back: 844.
The longer 12 marker is a little odd, but it appears to be an oldish 844. Thats an automatic variant of the 1000 series diver.

Some of the earlier ones had "odd" detail components. Also, over the years it's possible that parts have been replaced.

I have an 844/5 (from about 90-91), but your one would be several years older than that.

The good thing with C24 is that - either way - you always learn new things…

I stumbled across the below and don't think I’ve ever seen something like this before (Maybe that’s also true for the seller since he doesn’t provide a reference number…):
- the Carrera dial in late Montreal/Pasadena style? Maybe.
- but what is this case - looks like sandblasted?

Admittedly, I haven’t combed through OTD for more clarity before sharing here 😗

And a quick second one… This 1553 has been lingering on various platforms for probably around a year and I cannot really figure out what's wrong with it:

Sure - condition isn’t great (especially the case), but the price reflects this. So I’m not sure why it’s not moving… Is it the dial, the blue of which looks suspiciously vivid? So maybe a repaint job?

Eager to learn, so your insights are welcome 😀

Doesn't look too bad to me. Case is a bit worn (look at top left lug for example). It should be much sharper than this. Pics aren't great and potentially the dial has a bit of bobbling or moisture spots. If watches aren't selling it may be due to an unresponsive seller, poor photos/description or a risky location or payment method. And obviously the fast movers in vintage watches are those in top condition.

Where is this advertised?

Swiss online classifieds. Seller is a Pro in Basel. Pretty sure it was on C24 before (possibly at a higher price).

I went to a coin show and found this "solid gold" quartz diver, offered at $5k btw. After some searching I believe it might be ref. 988.013. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take more pics of it. Really hard to get more facts on this one. Anybody else ever seen one?

Looks like ref 988.413 with gold dial, 988.013 would be the black dial version. Price seems good, given it's 18k gold. I'd go for it, might even be able to haggle some! 👍

Here's a 988.013 on ebay, asking $8,800.

Thanks Speedsterman! I was just now searching, once again. The only image I could find of it on the entire "world wide web" is this one.
But with no other info, let alone a price either.

I already decided to save this one from the melting pot (coin show) given that it's bezel is not cracked or shattered. Although well worn she's still ticking and a survivor too! Btw, it is stamped 988.413 on the caseback as your research suggests. I appreciate the help bro. 👍

Looking forward to see plenty of photos!!! @HoltzPlatz
Congratulations, @HoltzPlatz!
Thanks fellas! Adding a few quick pics from today here. This one has a really unusual bezel, glass or acrylic perhaps? It really reflects the ambient light so it's difficult to capture the beauty.

That's pretty special @HoltzPlatz; probably makes you feel like a million bucks, even better than a Wolf of Wall Street!

Lol Speedsterman, me just a Grey Wolf on Main Street as I slip into my 60's this year. Hoping it will be a sign of my well refined and distinguished tastes. 😉 Or maybe some chicks will just dig it at the Senior bars? 😝

Proctors Gold Medal Automatic with a way too 'modern' HEUER shield, and the one on the movement doesn't instill any more confidence. Surely a fake right?? And an Automatic too? 😵‍💫 Just curious as it's coming from a seller with nearly 7000 100% positive transactions. 34mm

This one is… „interesting“ 😒

And they didn’t really try too hard re. the bracelet:

On the other hand: Only 3.6k CHF; auction starting at 2.8k CHF. Strangely no bids yet… 🙄

Question. I am possibly interested in this Carrera. Two things I noticed.

1. The crystal outer ring markers (circled in red) are not aligned with the hour markers. Is this easily adjusted by a watchmaker?
2. The chrono functions do not reset exactly back to zero (circled in green). Is this easily corrected?

Thank you in advance!

Tension ring is easy, no worries there. Adjusting the chrono hands shouldn't be a problem either unless it's not just an alignment issue, but if the price is right it'd be worth going for.
