I will ask them what they intend to do with it beforehand. I have heard about using NOS parts and not returning the originals. I hope i have not missed some nightmares...

Hi all,

Just an update. Expected to receive an estimate at the start of Aug. Have no idea what they intend to do to the watch as yet. Interesting to note that, aside from its Bond connections, this is the watch William Petersen wore in MANHUNTER (1986).

Hope I don't get stung by the estimate, but I waited a while to find one so am pleased to finally have it.

Another frankenwatch? Listed on ebay as a Daytona, but it's wrapped in a Monza case. Even the Daytona script on the dial looks a little off balance. But rest assured "No warranty but verified it is authentic"

Anybody here ever seen a bezel like this?
This old chestnut again! I'll write more in a while, is it still on c24? Steve

So-this bezel (and maybe case) is likely that used on the Jenny Carribean. The story goes that there was a watchmaker in France who bought some Heuer parts including the infamous Orange 844 'Made in France' dials along witlh a couple of the above type cases/bezels and was told they were to be a production model together.

The seller of the above watch claimed it was direct from Mr Monnin. (the seller also claims it is an 'Orignal Steel Bracelet'-original what? 99% it's not Heuer and just look at the fit within the lugs!)

Personally I am extremely sceptical about it. Let's be open-minded though and say MAYBE Heuer were going to produce this and MAYBE they were going to use those Orange dials in production. It's agreed by virtually everyone they never did with either so does the above become a prototype then? To me it follows no known pattern of Heuer production but each to their own! ( 🤨 )

You're right, definitely looks like a Jenny Caribbean case and bezel. Dial and hands look like they might have come from a later 1000 series watch but I'm only saying what it reminds me of here!

It just looked intriguing to me and I wondered why I have not seen another like it. Interesting that it actually has a known history, however sketchy that might be. And yes, it's the same one listed on C24 for probably the last year at least. Thanks to you for that history lesson👍
That Jenny, such a slut!

I'm not sure where to post this here and I've looked. Is there a fake non-TAG but Heuer fun thread? Seems like this space should be reserved for genuine concerns

What are obvious fakes for you might not be for other forum readers, I see no issues with posting things like that too. Beginners can actually learn from it.

Looks like one of our beloved "California specials" from that particularly prolific vintage fakery

It is indeed another Cal special. And now another one pops up from Santa Barbara, CA with orange hands. Too good to be true
Not listed as a prototype either

I actually don't think this is completely fake. Aside from the case which is questionable, it appears to be good parts for a ref. 1614 of which other examples for Champion are known. This is probably just a put-together. Wouldn't spend tons of money on it, but could be a good donor for someone who's got a case in need of internals.

Anyone a clue what THIS is (seen on a site for watch classifieds in France - so the poster should expect a fairly knowledgeable audience)?

Hint: It’s supposed to be a “Heuer Chronograph Vintage Panda Dialfrom the 70s:

Yep, one of the 'economy' models of the early 70s powered by a 7733. They come up now and then, confusing people every time, but they're legit 😉

Oh, wow confused I was indeed…

Then again (and I hope I’m not offending anyone…) it does look “economy” - especially when you think about the context in which it has been commercialized.
