Some more pictures attached. I have tried to put the second and the other 2 small hands in place, but it seems that the chronograph ist not working. Will have to send it for service, quite obviously.

That's useful. It looks like at least some of the upgrade works have been done, hence the lug marking. It also looks like there is a mark under the balance complete, which would indicate the upgrade to a calibre 11i also.

Could we see the case ends again/better if possible?

ps thanks for the Springer comments. 👍 She's called Poppy but it should have been Shadow as she's always under my feet!!

Many thanks. Some more pictures from the lugs attached. No real „wholes“ but more minor notches. The black appearance really comes from the iPhone camera. I just found a specialist for vintage Heuers in Germany: Classicheuer.de. Will send them the watch tomorrow.

Would you recommend to replace the bezel or just clean it to keep the worn out look? Or should I try to get a genuine mint bezel from that pre-viceroy years?

Thanks for all your great input so far, very helpful indeed.

Best, Herbert

I don't think it will be that easy to find a replacement bezel, but even if you can, keeping the watch as original as possible is usually the way to retain maximum value.

Hi 'Beats', I'm not 100% sure what a 'banjo' crown is but what you say all sounds correct. It has been suggested that there were never any push-in crowns, but that they were bayonet types that have broken over time. Either way, this is quite common for these models so not an issue I'd say

Thanks, Steve

Thanks Steve for sharing your knowledge 😀 I'm very pleased to hear that and appreciace your know-how a lot!

Hello All!

I’m relatively new to watches, and to Heuer specifically. But I just purchased a Heuer Game-Master 502.05. However, the seller claimed (and it appears) to be a “left-hand” model, with the mechanics on the right side of the case, rather than the left.

I’m left-handed, and I just got a car for which I wanted a vintage stopwatch. But there’s not a lot of info on the Game-Master, and I can’t find anything on so-called “left-hand” models.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Hi Herbert, thanks. I guess it must have been polished in the past-hence the lack of numbers and those horizontal brush marks. You'll be in good hands with classicheuer anyway so good call. 👍

I am about to purchase a blue dial Tag Formula 1 (ref CA 1210-1) but on the right hand side of the watch face I have the words 'Formula 1 chronograph' instead of 'Chronograph 1/10th' that all others have.

I've searched through TAG catalogues from 1998 to 2004 and cannot see a ref CA1210-1 blue face with the 'Formula 1 chronograph' on the face

Do I have a fake?

Hey, if it says TAG it's on the wrong side of the fence. 😉

So I'm a little confused - the other 918 1/10ths I've found (mostly Heuer catalogues from 40s & 50s) have hinged backs. This one doesn't - it has snap-fit caseback, and an internal snap-fit over the movement.

I am really no expert here but this looks later than 40/50s doesn't it?

You're quite right - it was based on the previous owner's comments regarding its origins but having done further research it's probably an early 1960s (pre-Leonidas).

I'm considering this Monaco 1133B. I know that it shows wear, not abuse though imo. This is my dream and I'm willing to settle for a few notches below the best of them. So far I can't find a reason not to pull the hammer on it because of my authenticity concerns. I've checked out many sources and I am looking for something that's not quite right about it. To talk myself out of it! Any opinions?
Thanks in advance guys!

Looks like a really good one to me. Traces of normal use but not even obvious dents or scratches by the looks of it. These are detailed photos and it looks great. In the metal this is a stunner I think. Sharp case, no signs of polishing. dial looks great, no flaking, no signs of seal melt, all lume markers present. Some yellowing of subdials but not too bad. The screw of the right subdial hand looks a bit weird. Corrosion maybe?

One of the subdial hands is different. Potentially not a major issue if everything else checks out.
