Thanks. That’s what I thought having looked at others online. Here’s some photos of the rest of the watch.
wow never seen the movement holder like that in the fake before. Weird. And the gold movement. See guys, told you the fakes have the Swiss R9 movements too.

With so many requests asking what aspects suggest my watch may be fake, it makes me very dubious as to the reason behind the requests.

Can see a legitimate request to advance knowledge on avoiding a fake in future. Can also see the scenario where information is fed back to make these elements better on future fakes.
Yeah, that's why sometimes people call me a fraud, cause I don't tell them why their watch is fake lol. I want to scream the tells from a rooftop. But then the factories will see it, and use it. Just as they use the serial numbers people post.

Fair enough. That’s a valid point. My questions were to avoid fakes in the future. I was suckered in by the fact that it showed up on Tags warranty check site. Thanks for the advice. Now to send it back!
Did it match the model number? Sometimes we get lucky, and it doesn't.

Was aimed specifically at you. Just seems to be a pattern with new members of late.

I can totally see legitimate questions being asked in fairness. Stick around btw, as this is a great forum with great members. 😀
" was aimed specifically at you". 😉 ouch, haha. Awkward error.

This whole place is hacked and every second you spend here, a continuous stream of malware works its way through your entire device and local network.

Or maybe some members use some browser extension that automatically translates text which means that when they quote us, what we see is their local language.

I have no idea but these are the only logical reasons I can think of.
I'm sorry, but that one reason sounds farcical. Why would anyone use a browser extension.

Yup. Apologies @Jay_83 , I think you got the typo after replying since. Not sure why, but predictive text keeps amending this for some reason. Must be a mistype that it then thinks is the positive instead of the negative. Will be more careful in future.

Yep. Exact model and matching serial number on Tags site. That’s why I originally thought it was ok. Movement looked ok as well. Lume was good. It has blue AR coating on the crystal, not sure if that’s what they are supposed to have??

Luckily I’ve been refunded and I’m sending it back in the next few days. Let me know if there are any other photos that people want to see if specific areas of the watch and I’ll take them before sending it back. Might help others in future??

Thanks guys. It was the lume pop that was definitely looked off and set off my suspicions. Any other aspects that are glaringly obvious showing it’s fake?
Lumepip is the last reason why it is now possible to detect a fake. LOL

Do I understand correctly - on Ebay auctions, all these Tags that are sold for ~1000£ and have valid (active) warranty , are all fakes?

@Garry Belton I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprise if most, or not all, are fake. What I can say for sure is I wouldn't buy one from one of those sellers, or any other seller I didn't know personally. In fact, I wouldn't buy an Aquaracer unless it was from an AD or certified pre-owned from an AD.

This, in a nutshell, is gospel 👎

It's depressing, but yes. The only safe bets are the older models that are not popular or ones that can't easily be faked, like Calibre S for example. Bet those fakers would love to be able to make the yellow dial Calibre S Aquaracer...

Do subs, superoceans and seamasters get faked as often as Aquaracers or have I just not noticed ?

There are some extremely well made fakes of all of those (especially subs) - counterfeiters generally think risk + cost vs reward. ARs are comparatively easy to make well enough to fool people (the ability to fake the website "authenticity" for many watches on a single serial REALLY helps) - this is the risk + cost. The reward is that they can sell for >50% of the retail of the real ones extremely easily, and in large numbers.

Decent Sub fakes can have a bigger margin, but a higher risk and cost. Likewise with Superoceans and Seamasters - they're harder to get right, and all of these are generally subject to more scrutiny by buyers than any modern TAG Heuer.

I buy & sell watches at work. Having it in your hands makes a big difference in identifying fakes but as others in this thread have mentioned before, the best AR fakes can be very hard to spot even side by side with an original.

Could you explain why you think so for the superocean? In my opinion the superocean is a worse finished, worse bang for buck and pretty much competing with the Aquaracer. I would not say that superocean and seamaster play in the same league. Just curious to learn why you think superoceans would be more difficult to counterfit than an Aquaracer?

I've got an older Seamaster and last years Superocean Heritage 42 as well as an AR.
The fakes I've seen of my old SMP have been awful with a crap lume pip and an even crapper HE valve.
The fakes of newer SMP have been better.
I've not seen a fake SOH 42 yet but I've no doubt they exist.

I wouldn't send it back. Remember, they will scam another person who isn't as smart as you. Don't let them do that.
