Is my TAG Heuer Authentic? All questions here please

It's true - TAG Heuer often came out with several variants of the same model. On the other hand, I'm unsure of how technically knowledgeable the AD people are. If it was a watch maker/repair technician making the call, then I'd be more confident than if it was a sales representative. To be sure, I'd send it to TAG Heuer Customer Service - which I realize would be a pain in the rear end. Lucky for me, there's a local watch boutique and repair centre in my city that is both an official TAG Heuer Customer Service and Omega Service Centre.

To be honest I wouldn't take the word of a salesman in an AD, he probably knows less than you do. It's his job to sell watches not to be an expert on them... I mean, I sell engineering tools, but I don't know how to use them. It would be nice to think these people are all trained to a high level but if they are trained, it's in closing deals and extracting links. On the other hand, if they handle watches all day that may give them some insight, but most salespeople I come across aren't that interested in watches, it's just their job - which is fair enough. Maybe in six months they'll be selling sofas... you generally don't get employed as a watch salesman because you like watches.

It’s a watchmaker that’s authenticating it. It cost me $50 just for him to do that haha. They’ve also contacted Tag to verify the date of manufacture just to be sure because of the differences. They said that they’ve seen differences in the same model of older years in the past. I questioned them about the differences in the watches

Hi, a new guy here. What do you think of this Tag Heuer 1000 that I have in my possession? I've understood that 980 113N with tull lume dials usually have black hands and the 6, 9 and 12 dial markers are more white/beige instead of green. I've seen others like this (or maybe it's always just this exact one, who knows) online, but not in catalogues here.

Cheers!

Morning, sitting with my version in my hand to compare, it is a 980-113B though, so, the face on mine has a distinct green cast to it and the hands are a little different, the luminous pip on the bezel on mine was flush but has since disappeared, worn out with cleaning?
The back looks similar although mine doesn’t have numbers on the strap wings where yours shows 455b.

Ignore the missing markers from the face, these vanished years ago and were never found even sadder the movement was removed from the case, some manic trick!

Okay thank you for the super fast response! What's the easiest thing to check first on authenticity if you don't mind, or if you can point me in the direction of a helpful guide I would appreciate it. Thanks again

If you just do a quick Google of the model number on the case back you will see that it does not even fit in the Carrera category.

The dial looks like no known Carrera.

The reference number starts with a 'W' which would indicate that it is a Watch, whereas the reference number for a Chronograph would start with a 'C'.

The second letter of the reference number indicates the model and 'J' has never been used for a Carrera.

Finally, the subdials.... the 6 o'clock subdial looks to be some sort of second time zone dial with 24 hours around it and heaven knows what the 9 o'clock subdial is trying to indicate with a 5 on the left and what looks like an 8 on the right.

Huge fake, stay away.

And also the “SINCE 1964” on the case back is hilarious, when it should be 1860!!!

A really bad fake!! ::facepalm1::

I can't find any info on this model. The clasp does not function and the case blends into the bracelet meaning I either have to replace it with an identical one or h ave this one repaired and I really don't have any idea how to accomplish either.

Fake.
