·It's true - TAG Heuer often came out with several variants of the same model. On the other hand, I'm unsure of how technically knowledgeable the AD people are. If it was a watch maker/repair technician making the call, then I'd be more confident than if it was a sales representative. To be sure, I'd send it to TAG Heuer Customer Service - which I realize would be a pain in the rear end. Lucky for me, there's a local watch boutique and repair centre in my city that is both an official TAG Heuer Customer Service and Omega Service Centre.
To be honest I wouldn't take the word of a salesman in an AD, he probably knows less than you do. It's his job to sell watches not to be an expert on them... I mean, I sell engineering tools, but I don't know how to use them. It would be nice to think these people are all trained to a high level but if they are trained, it's in closing deals and extracting links. On the other hand, if they handle watches all day that may give them some insight, but most salespeople I come across aren't that interested in watches, it's just their job - which is fair enough. Maybe in six months they'll be selling sofas... you generally don't get employed as a watch salesman because you like watches.
