What really gave it away was the back plate! And the fact that it's not a Monaco, obviously!

It's also the first one I have seen where the blue/white second markings are vertical around the edge of the face and not flat around very edge of the face. The dials at 9 & 3 and the date window are also to low.

Yours does show up on this site. Mine didn't. Although i would assume the people making these fakes would sometimes use real serial numbers.

Now I’m extremely confused. My genuine Tag doesn’t show up on Trusted, but the one I’m doubting does. My black Tag shows up under warranty on the Tag website, though.

Not a concern about whether my F1 model 375 513 is fake (since I bought it directly from a reputable jewellers, a TAG distributor, in 1993). I intend to sell it in the near future, but on looking for the serial number, have found that there isn't one on the case back - just a lightly etched model number above the TAG logo. I've read on another forum that the early F1s didn't have serial numbers on the cases - but wished to check that out with the experts here, as a potential buyer will no doubt ask. Is there a serial number somewhere else or was it left without as it was a low cost watch? FYI, it is a steel case with a steel band. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Haha just maybe, or the deal of a lifetime! 😉 😁 I've reported them so many times but the ads still pop up for me!

Another good reason why I don’t do Facebook.

Agreed. I got rid of FB about 2 years ago. Best decision ever!

It's not just Facebook, your phone listens to you. I was talking to a work colleague about sofas the other day and then she went to show me something on her phone and an advert for DFS appeared.

This is why I won't have an alexia

Agree, we are monitored in anything we do online or on the phone I’m sure, wonder if we all have a discussion re free samples from the bank and higher interest rates on savings it’ll happen. Nah that’s just wishful thinking, never going to happen.
We don’t have Alexia or any of her sister clones around the house, one bossy woman is more than enough.

Exactly. They tell you you can turn it off, but I wouldn't trust it.

I just heard back from the AD and they told me my watch was authentic. I checked it side by side with the same model in the store and there were a few differences, though.
The lines of the emblem on the crown were thicker on mine
The dial was textured
The numbers on the bezel were more deeply engraved on the one in the store
The flat side of the case opposite of the crown was shorter than the one in the store
The numbers on the date wheel were larger or mine. It looked like they didn’t fit the cyclops.

I don’t really know how to tell the difference between a fake and real one. They told me that they could see the differences between the in store model and mine, but the only thing they could tell me was that mine was an older model of the WAY2013.

Still sounds odd to me... would be interesting if you could take it to another AD to see what they think. Remember that not all AD's have staff that always know what they are talking about (we have read some terrible examples in this forum)

True, but I think maybe you guys place far too much faith in TAG Heuer's consistency. For example, there is a Ceramic 500M Aquaracer that turns up in the Bicester store quite often and depending on how old it is it is two completely different colours they get. Same part number, but they obviously updated it at some point and changed the tone. One is a very 'royal' blue and one is a kind of 'greeny' blue. So the truth is they might well change certain details and not change the part number and we would call it 'fake' because it doesn't match the example we have but it's not necessarily decisive.

It's true - TAG Heuer often came out with several variants of the same model. On the other hand, I'm unsure of how technically knowledgeable the AD people are. If it was a watch maker/repair technician making the call, then I'd be more confident than if it was a sales representative. To be sure, I'd send it to TAG Heuer Customer Service - which I realize would be a pain in the rear end. Lucky for me, there's a local watch boutique and repair centre in my city that is both an official TAG Heuer Customer Service and Omega Service Centre.
