I distinctly remember one watch company doing just that - but I can't remember who it was... the problem is personalisation is always going to cost more than is really reasonable and more than the watch is 'worth'.
Yes agree, but that doesn't seem to stop some people paying £4000 for a metallic paint colour on a car. And if it meant I could spec a panda glassbox Carrera... 😀

Well that's true... I'll just stick to my quartz SELs until I get (much) a better job! 🙁

Just as a matter of interest, are TAG Heuer willing to customise F1s or Aquaracers rather than $5000 Carreras? As you say 200 Carreras is A LOT (considering there's been 125pce LEs that ended up in the outlets).
Yes- any watch is possible

Interesting, I guess from your point of view you need to attract those beyond this circle since there aren't enough of 'us' who will all agree on a watch, in other words from a commerical point of view you kind of 'need' the flippers to move the watches, and I'm guessing you're more likely to sell 200 Carreras than 200 Aquaracers, despite them being dearer, simply because they are more attractive to those looking to move them on...

I do agree that we all have different tastes and likes which is good. There’s a delicate balance between too much personalisation and also a sense of pedigree in a watch in my perspective. The design is one aspect.. the package, the feel while wearing the watch, the delight in your eyes, the appeal to watch enthusiasts, the story behind it, the connection and meaning to you, the “exclusivity” it generates etc. All these also have different impact to the buyers, Including those who just want to make more money out of it sadly.. (eg. flippers)

Design alone, I’d take it 👍 But if it becomes a Calibre11 collector’s edition even more, I’m all in 101% 👍 It has Calibre11 colors (red, black, white) and it speaks “racing” (carrera) to me 😉

We need to attract the customers the ‘flippers’ sell to here then to make the customer base?

If the design is good, the number is no more than 200, and the price not too much above a normal model, then it would sell out within a few days max I imagine.

Nice idea, but they aren't necessarily watch 'enthusiasts'....

I don't know, that's double what David made last time... which would make it less attractive to flippers for a start.

I'm an enthusiast, but a watch that looks like a roulette table doesn't appeal to me.

Me neither.

Bit harsh. I like it a lot more than the 160th Montreal Carrera, but I have to agree I still wouldn't buy one over a simpler Carrera. I think there are plenty that would, though, especially if it came in a nice vintage style red chequered flag presentation box. 100 would be a better number, but I think 200 would sell out pretty quickly still, especially if it got featured on Hodinkee and some of the other mainstream watch channels.

It is quite known that the design can be traced to the Omega Tintin which is gaining popularity recently. For me, its colors speaks as a chequered flag and red accents thus “racing.” Befitting a watch named “Carrera”

Yes, the Omega Tintin reminds one of the three versions of the Carrera Racing by @Ara ... and for me this Carrera R (even when I put it in 3rd position of the three Ara designs) is the clear winner 👍

Well I mean.... it is pretty close, even if it takes inspiration from elsewhere. I think it'd be really cool (and suuuuper easy) if they just started using a version of the old Chronomatic box for the "heritage" models - even if this Carrera's inspiration (the 2447) had nothing to do with it!

Just tell them it's actually ripped off our own Red Racing Box from 1969 and a super cool picture by Vintage Heuer on Instagram.
