What is not yet clear is how domed the crystal will be; meaning, it's not clear if it will still be a glassbox, or just a domed crystal. We should find out later this month.
The decription I've seen just says "domed sapphire crystal". If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say I don't think it will be a glassbox. The render that's doing the rounds bears this out I think, although obviously it's a front-on view so, again, hard to tell for sure.

Ara Ara
will this generate enthusiasm for both vintage enthusiasts AND TH fans?

I think both - while the new glassbox models are definitely not 'Heritage' models, from what I've seen they do incorporate much more of the fundamental design ethos of the earlier Carreras. I think they'll be an excellent addition to the lineup.

I hope you're right. A domed crystal should provide better visibility at the crystal's edge. It will also keep the "glassbox" unique to the heritage 39mm, further differentiating the two 39mm product lines from one another.

I'm probably in the minority, but the glassbox distortion doesn't bother me much. On the plus side, I find it adds depth & personality.

Theory: the 60th panda has increased the desirability and therefore prices of all glassbox Carreras.

A few members were discussing the new Carreras and their relative position against the glassbox Carreras in DM when I suggested that the Heuer glassboxes can still be found at lower prices than the upcoming TAG Heuer Carreras. Double checking that claim I found that prices on C24 for all glassbox Carreras seem to have increased quite a lot and that the number of watches for sale has been reduced. I'm pretty sure I saw loads of 160th silver Carreras for sale in the EU at around 5k just weeks ago, at around the launch of the panda. There are now only 2, one in Austria and one in Switzerland, priced at 6k and above and getting a lot of views. The number of Montreal Carreras also seems to have reduced and the prices upped. Maybe I'm imagining things but I don't believe so.
In Japan there are still plenty of relatively cheap 160th for sale. Not sure why it always seems Japanese prices are so low and they still don't move. I asked one of those sellers a question about a watch a couple of weeks ago and am still waiting for a response.

Another factor that might contribute to this suggested effect is that Arnault has confirmed the panda was the last glassbox. We're not sure when we'll see another Heuer branded Carrera again, while previously you could expect one or two every year. I'm not sure if enough collectors are fully on board with all this to have any effect. So this might be a long shot.

Interested to hear opinions.

Perhaps an isolated case, but the 60th did seem to spur our buddy @Anthony.R into a glassbox buying frenzy. Adding the Blue Dreamer, Montreal & Dato within a month after getting the Panda. 😁

Not a single dinkydato on C24 and there were a few a couple of weeks ago. Anthony, how many did you buy?

The Panda did spark me into action.

When I was looking on C24 there were 2 Dato available. I bought 1 and it was lost during shipping with UPS. I immediately purchased the other one (at a higher price). They were the only 2.

The Montreal came from C24 also in the UK. There were 3 available back then. The one I purchased didn't have original box. Came with warranty card dated only a year ago. This was a bargain at 50% off Retail.

The Blue. Dreamer was the first in the frenzy.
There was only 1 available on C24.After making a silly offer on it I was shocked to see the Offer Accepted. There is another available at present in Melbourne but at a ridiculous $23k AUD.

So for me now my ultimate goal is the Skipper.
They are rare but I keep my fingers crossed.
It may take a few years to find one like the Blue Dreamer but one can only hope.

That's because your glasbox watch(es) don't have details on the periphery. Have you tried the Fragment, or the Telemeter?

The Fragment, no. Never seen one in person. I wanted one when it was released, but just couldn't justify its price.

The Telemeter, yes. I was super excited about it, but was disappointed when I tried it on. It wasn't specifically the crystal, but just a number of things. The color and inverted pie pan dial were the two negatives (for me) that I recalled most. But it also felt small, probably due to the combination of the glassbox & inverted pie pan. Tried it on a couple of times, my feelings haven't changed.

Right! The Fragment doesn't show well with the glassbox, primarily because of the contrasting chapter ring.

My similar pair. Decided to give the panda a break in favour of the CS3110 today.

Earlier in this thread, we were discussing the availability of the strap and buckle that came with the 60th Carrera. Has anyone been able to purchase from TAG Heuer at this time?

I vageuly recollect that someone did buy a spare one and that someone else was going to. Can't remember who or which thread it was in I'm afraid. I have it on my list to try and get one at some point as I like to keep original straps pristine if possible. I would have thought it would be easy to order from a TAG boutique.

I think it was @Anthony.R and @Mspeedster? I’ve reached out to my boutique but they don’t seem to be available through them (yet).
My Boutique just got the strap in stock. So it should be orderable in the US.

When I first enquired, about the time Anthony ordered his, it wasn't available yet in the US. They had the price, but couldn't order. But now you should be able to order one.
