Seems like the usual shit show from the FIA, accusation and counter, poor clarity and explanations from FIA.

And leaks, weaponized by Binotto and especially Toto. Maybe build a better car

Seems like the usual shit show from the FIA, accusation and counter, poor clarity and explanations from FIA.

Why the hell would they announce that Red Bull broke the cap, but give no further explanation? It's almost like they wanted it to blow up and create a fuss, and then when they eventually come to an 'agreement' with RB that their picnic tables weren't included after all (or whatever the F it is) it leaves a stain on an already fairly grubby WDC.

What are the chances that RB didn't overspend in 2022 do you think? Are we going to go through this all again next year?

I was reading some comments on Planet F1 this morning and one thing that was suggested was that RB should be demoted to third in the WCC, with the resulting loss of money (but presumably not the increase in wind tunnel time) that that involves. While this kind of makes more sense than a points deduction (given that ten points one year can be massive and inconsequential the next) it still won't wash since teams would sacrifice the WCC for the glory of a WDC.

2 WDC tainted for me.
Both results of inadequacy from FIA.
They will always be attached with an *

According to some people a lot of WDCs should carry asterisks...

* best car and rubbish team mate
* competitor broke leg
* competitor nearly burned to death
* drove into competitor at last race
* multi 21
* brawn diffuser
* mclaren 2007
* Adrian newey
* only won one race
* traction control software
* dominant car and number 2 reammate
* only won because Lewis had engine failure

Yes I tend to agree. in a decade or so, people won't truly remember the nitty gritty details. they will only know who is champion or not.
those who didn't watch F1 & Schumacher in the peak of his career won't even remember the controversy that haunted his and Ferrari's unbelievable 5 consecutive WDC. people easily forget, that's why history repeats itself.

The FIA had balls back then. They stripped McLaren of the WCC back in 2007 and awarded it to Ferrari where Kimi was F1 Champion.

Hmm, not sure I agree the fia had balls. McLaren were caught red handed and were a soft target. Plus it was mostly Max sticking it to Ron. Still don't believe they would ever DSQ a crowned champ no matter what.

I still think Max should retain the 2021 WDC. He worked and fought hard for that. I just wish the FIA already said the penalty when they released the breach made by RB and AM. Not like this, everything is left hanging and the longer it is, the more speculation and rumors spreading like wildfire in social media.

Absolutely. How long is this 'process' going to take? Are we going to have an answer before the end of the season? Christmas?

Decision should be announced immediately for sure. Otherwise it smacks of deals being done behind the scenes and gives everyone a chance to have their say in advance and influence the outcome.

Lewis should have won last season anyway of course... 😗

Max had to overtake Lewis for him to win WDC. It was not like Max was leading that time and was just handed the WDC. If Max was not able to overtake Lewis, then all this debacle is for nothing. People simply forget that. Was it that obvious that overtaking was needed? It was not his fault, nor Lewis. They are just drivers doing their stuff, and the rules were there for the FIA and F1 to interpret and implement.

Lewis won all his titles when there was no budget cap in place at all. So these titles don’t count anymore? Max won the first two under the new rule. Which titles carry most weight?

In 2019, Mercedes spent around $484 million while Ferrari spent $463 million, and finally, Red Bull invested $445 million. The 40 million (!) overspend by Merc was a little more than the couple of million Toto is so furious about. The 2021 car was built with the massive budgets of previous years. It was only an evolution. Pretty hilarious Toto is fuming about that. Smoke and mirrors is all.

This season, under the new rulebook, demonstrated Ferrari and RB master the art of making a highly competitive car with a fraction of the budget of previous years and Merc does not, at least so far. Claiming Max’s titles are tainted is pretty wild.

I have to remind everyone that Latifi also crashed out towards the end of the title-deciding race. Not Lewis fault, not Max fault nor the FIA/F1 fault. It happened. Period. If that didn’t happen then this 2021 WDC controversy would not be alive. You can call it destiny or fate that Max won. And no one can argue about destiny.

This is very true. Latiffi's place in the history books is secure!

A bit like how the only reason people remember Ricardo Zonta is because Mika and Michael went either side of him at SPA.

It doesn’t take a genius to see who gave Latifi multiple “death threats” and gave him F1 mental trauma.
