Is this the Porsche steering wheel inspiration of the rotor?
Supposedly, but it's not like that modern Porsche steering wheel is iconic or anything. Nobody will know or care.
The wheel design of the PD watch isn't either of course, but it's intended to match the owner's own car - it's customizable.
One could say that it's a proper lesson for Tag Heuer in how to make a unique and special watch that ties in with a car manufacturer. As opposed to taking an existing model, using an older dial style and slapping "Porsche" on the bezel.
TAG don't care, they figure their customer base is dumb enough to not know the difference

路I have to admit, the Porsche Design rotor caseback really looks nice and corresponds to the wheel design of the actual Porsche Carrera it was made for. The renders really look good but I鈥檓 not sure once I鈥檝e seen them on hand. Might be a different story. While the rotor design seems commendable, the movement is the reliable workhorse ETA 7750 with a pricetag higher than that of TAG Heuer鈥檚 Calibre Heuer 02 movement. And looking at the dial, it doesn鈥檛 really give me any bit of joy to be honest. 馃槙 So I鈥檇 still pick the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph over the Porsche Design ones.

I鈥檝e noticed that also but I believe it is inherent to the 44mm Carrera Sports Chronograph design as seen from the previous releases (shown below) Atleast TH made the date background black to blend better with the dial. 馃憤

路No matter how cool it looks, I still have not gotten over the tacky "HEUER 02 80 HOURS" text on the dial 馃檨
